Sea Lions of the Galapagos (2025) 4/5 “A heartwarming dive into the life of a sea lion pup, 'Sea Lions of the Galapagos' blends breathtaking visuals, Brendan Fraser’s charming narration and ecological wonder into an unforgettable Earth Day adventure.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Apr 23, 2025 Full Review Warfare (2025) 93% 4.5/5 “'Warfare' is a visceral plunge into the chaos and camaraderie of combat, stripping away Hollywood gloss to reveal the raw human cost and unvarnished truths of war. ” – Denton Record-Chronicle Apr 17, 2025 Full Review A Minecraft Movie (2025) 48% 2.5/5 “'A Minecraft Movie' is a messy build. It lacks the sharp wit and self-awareness of 'The LEGO Movie,' and its story often feels like players endlessly digging but never striking diamond. But, as far as kid-centric entertainment goes, it’s serviceable.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Apr 4, 2025 Full Review Clown in a Cornfield (2025) 93% 4/5 “'Clown in a Cornfield' doesn’t just pay homage; it brings its own flavor to this blood-soaked buffet, proving that the slasher genre still has plenty of fresh rows to harvest.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Drop (2025) 84% 3.5/5 “Christopher Landon’s 'Drop' turns a disastrous first date into a thrilling, laugh-filled game of survival, blending sharp tension, cheeky humor, and a sly commentary on modern power dynamics.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Friendship (2024) 91% 4/5 “'Friendship' hilariously navigates the cringeworthy depths of male bonding, blending absurd humor with heartfelt moments as it follows a socially awkward man's chaotic quest for connection amidst the trials of mid-life fatigue.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 18, 2025 Full Review Holland (2025) 21% 2.5/5 “Mimi Cave delivers a visually striking yet ultimately frustrating mystery that tantalizes with its beautiful surface but leaves audiences yearning for deeper revelations and a satisfying payoff.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 17, 2025 Full Review The Accountant 2 (2025) 77% 3/5 “'The Accountant 2' blends dark humor and heartfelt sibling dynamics in a messy yet entertaining pursuit of justice, proving that even a calculated misfire can deliver charm and thrills.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 17, 2025 Full Review Death of a Unicorn (2025) 54% 2.5/5 “'Death of a Unicorn' attempts to blend whimsy and horror in a chaotic tale of revenge-seeking unicorns and capitalist greed, but ultimately leaves viewers craving a more original fantasy instead of a nostalgic patchwork.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 16, 2025 Full Review The Rivals of Amziah King (2025) 97% 4/5 “For those seeking a taste of the extraordinary within the ordinary, this film is a melodic reminder of life’s simplest joys, leaving a sweet echo in both heart and mind.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 15, 2025 Full Review Deeper (2025) “While 'Deeper' certainly encapsulates the essence of an adventure film, it is also something far richer — a riveting and textured portrait of one’s quest to dive into uncharted depths in search of self-purpose. ” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 15, 2025 Full Review Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie (2025) 100% 5/5 “In 'Nirvanna the Band the Show the Movie,' Matt Johnson and Jay McCarrol embark on a hilarious, time-bending quest to revive their dreams of stardom, blending mockumentary antics with heartfelt nostalgia for their '80s and '90s upbringing.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 15, 2025 Full Review The True Beauty of Being Bitten by a Tick (2025) 71% “Through its astute observations and haunting aesthetics, 'The True Beauty of Being Bitten by a Tick' is a darkly delicious treat and thought-provoking foray into horror that manages to be both reflective and intensely gripping. ” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Together (2025) 100% 4.5/5 “The horror aspects may get you in the door, but it’s the profound exploration of love, identity, and the very essence of partnership amid chaos that give the film its staying power. 'Together' is an unexpected horror gift.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 12, 2025 Full Review Another Simple Favor (2025) 81% “While 'Another Simple Favor' may not hold a knife as sharp as its original, its delightfully devilish attitude makes it an enjoyable continuation. Ride its wave of chic absurdity.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Mar 8, 2025 Full Review The Monkey (2025) 79% 3/5 “The balance between humor and horror may occasionally wobble, and the film doesn’t always grapple with the deeper implications of its premise, but its shenanigans are undeniably fun. ” – Denton Record-Chronicle Feb 18, 2025 Full Review Captain America: Brave New World (2025) 48% 3/5 “Despite its uneveness, 'Captain America: Brave New World' successfully intertwines political themes with action, delivering a thought-provoking narrative that resonates with current societal concerns.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Feb 12, 2025 Full Review Paddington in Peru (2024) 93% “A marmalade-filled marvel and heartwarming trilogy closer. It's truly lovely.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Feb 9, 2025 Full Review Heart Eyes (2025) 81% “Blending a clever script infused with festive murder (cupid arrows meant for temple kisses and a machete that loves to kill you to pieces) and a sharp critique of romantic clichés, 'Heart Eyes' [is] a breath of fresh, albeit terrifying, air.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Feb 5, 2025 Full Review Companion (2025) 93% 4/5 “'Companion' is a delightful concoction of tension and whimsy, laced with a sardonic edge. The film cleverly utilizes humor to offer commentary on contemporary dating culture and the chaotic lengths to which people go for love.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Jan 31, 2025 Full Review Silent Night, Deadly Night (1984) 52% “The film is infamous for its blend of holiday cheer and brutal violence, exploring themes of trauma, abuse, and the darkness that can lie beneath festive surfaces, all while maintaining a sense of humor and not taking itself too seriously.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Jan 23, 2025 Full Review Hush (2016) 91% “In the realm of suspense, 'Hush' stands out as a tightly wound thriller, driven by Kate Siegel’s performance and Mike Flanagan’s direction, which never misses a beat.” – Denton Record-Chronicle Jan 23, 2025 Full Review Funny Girl (1968) 95% “'Funny Girl’s extravagant production design and flamboyant musical numbers are brought to life in a way that instantly transports you to the Broadway and Hollywood moments of the late '60s. ” – Denton Record-Chronicle Jan 15, 2025 Full Review Paper Moon (1973) 91% “'Paper Moon' isn't a mere narrative about con artists; it's a film that reflects on the complexities of human connections and the stark realities of life during the Great Depression.
