Audience Member This was an early viewing of Jet Li stuff for me, and something I was pleased to return to recently for a revisit. Li plays an undercover agent who's infiltrated a criminal organization, leaving his poor family a bit in the lurch as they're unaware of his career. There's some charming bits between Jet and his son, and a lot of great action sequences. Well worth a rental. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member While the plot is predictable, the father -son fight scenes are quite remarkable, and the different portrayal of mainland China and Honk Kong is interesting. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Audience Member Review: I quite enjoyed this movie. I really liked the little boy, who played Jet Li's son and there chemistry and fighting skills was a joy to watch. The storyline was well put together and Jet Li proved that he can act as well as kick butt. Basically, Jet Li plays an undercover cop, trying to take down a crime boss but while he's on the job his wife dies and his son goes to live with a cop whose trying to work out Jet Li's true identity. The fighting scenes were quite good, especially when his son is using his martial arts skills to help take down the baddies and the showdown at the end was worth waiting for. In all, it's an entertaining film with enough material to keep you interested throughout. Enjoyable! Round-Up: This film also has intense drama and you feel for Jet Li who can't reveal his undercover status to his family. After earning the trust from the baddies, he's unable to go back home because it might break his cover so his only communication with his loved ones is through a pager and phone calls to his son. I was really impressed with his sons acting skills and he really did show true emotion for such a young boy. The director didn't go overboard with the string action so the fight scenes looked realistic and well choreographed. Anyway, if your into your martial arts movies, this is definitely worth a watch. Budget: N/A Worldwide Gross: HK$15.5million I recommend this movie to people who are into their Jet Li movies about a undercover cop fighting against a crime boss, with the help of his young son. 6/10 Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Pretty good Jet Li movie! Tsue Miu, who previously played Li's son in "The New Legend of Shaolin" is once again great in this one. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member A bit cheesy at parts, though some of these parts also feature some great interpretations of real martial arts weapontry (ie, Jet Li fighting with a rope that is tied to his son( Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Things here have been uneven with me helping pay for a family funeral and friend soon to be marry I haven't time to write proper reviews for the better movies I enjoyed. Until then, I'll write of movie less deserving of my time, like My Dad the Hero (or The Enforcer). The Enforcer is about a cop whose job keeps him from attending his son's junior kung fu competitions. When sent undercover to infiltrate the gang of a brutal mob boss, his arrest--part of his cover story--exposes his son to humiliation in school. Meanwhile, his wife falls deeper into illness. The Enforcer is has an okay story which does developed, but never does anything interesting with it. I also find it to be a little too sentimental for my taste as nearly everyscene with a character I call little Li (Jet son in the movie) focuses a little to much on the father for us to actualy care when his mother died. She`s so poorly developed that it left little effect on me and it will on you too. Another problem with the story is that it's uneven as we get many long dramatic scenes and short action scenes which will challenge some viewer. For whatever flaws it has I can overlook because it did provide an interesting father and son relationship. As much I dislike the fact that the story should have focus entirely on Li being undercover as it`s clearly the better written part of the movie. Since it`s not like that, we unfortunately have like a third of the movie where it focuses on little Li which aren`t as interesting and slows down the pace of the movie. Despite it highs and lows points it doesn`t offer anything worth remembering. It does offer the entertainment of a good, but that`s when it focuses on Jet Li character. The Martial Art Chereography is nothing impressive, but then again it sure passes the time. I want to make myself clear by saying I don`t hate little kids, but it`s not exactly belivable when you have a ten year old fighting against adults which it look over the top, especialy in the climax during an auction. Now the adults acting were good, mostly because of Jet Li (for the most part) and Anita Mui ended up stealing the movie for me. Unfortunately the child actors aren`t good, something I always prepare for in a movie. These kids can`t act as one noticeable example is when little Li is beating up a kid picking on him and you can clearly see him laughing. Which is unfortunate since the child actor we`re stuck with isn`t any better and is barely watchable when he`s not fighting. The Enforcer certainly passes the time and I could understand why it has the user rating it has for it appeal. Unfortunately i`m not one of them as I found an overall mess with mix results.
