47 Meters Down Reviews
The four leads are fine. This feels like a collective of Hollywood kids who got a lucky break on Bring Your Daughter to Work Day.

The film moves at a steady, scary pace with plenty of "uh-oh" moments to keep you on your toes.

Sure enough, chains break, and the result leads to the kind of tense and bloody moments Shark Week fans adore.

An underwater exploitation b-movie that plays up on the archetype of the shy character who finds hidden reserves of courage. But, and there will be no spoilers here, it makes just enough unexpected choices along the way to keep things interesting.

I found 47 Meters Down to be intense, well constructed, and a good time at the movies.
| Original Score: 3/4 | Feb 15, 2021
To the film's credit, the cinematography is crystal clear and the environments appear entirely believable.

It was like a SyFy movie.

Is this a real movie?
| May 12, 2020
It respects the audience's intelligence enough to wear a fig leaf of reality so as not to openly offend our suspension of disbelief -- at least until it doesn't.

Dive in! The water's warm...and bloody 47 Meters Down.

The key is to appreciate its offer and discover it in the optimal environment with the autopilot on. If we meet these conditions, we could talk about one of the coolest entertainments of the season. [Full review in Spanish]

ut this is a movie about pretty white girl tourists trying not to get eaten by sharks. It doesn't even attempt to reinvent the wheel. Be warned, however: this film brings far more laughs than screams, and very few are intentional.
| Original Score: 6/10 | Jul 16, 2019
The film takes a decent premise and, appropriately, drowns it in clumsy exposition and truly horrendous dialogue.

47 Meters Down wants to be another awesome shark movie for the summer but dumb characters and a lack of sharks means this one has jump scares and nothing more.
| Original Score: 3.5/10 | May 21, 2019
An absolute blast at the theater.

When a set of characters are trapped 47 meters down in a cage surrounded by sharks, the narrative's potential is far from endless. In the hands of a better director, however, that potential could have been fully realised.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Mar 1, 2019
47 Meters Down is a floundering misfire.
| Original Score: 0/5 | Feb 12, 2019
The dark, murky water is perfect for obscuring the phony looking animated sharks - as well as the entry level acting.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Dec 20, 2018
Although it boasts two pretty Barbie Doll leading ladies, a flavored scenic land and watery locale and those toothy "Jaws" knock-offs swarming around, it still barely remains afloat with all the conviction of a defective, hole-ridden buoy.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Dec 14, 2018
The plot unfolds so matter-of-factly that we have nothing to do but poke holes.
