An orphan in a facility run by the mean Miss Hannigan (Carol Burnett), Annie (Aileen Quinn) believes that her parents left her there by mistake. When a rich man named Oliver Daddy Warbucks (Albert Finney) decides to let an orphan live at his home to promote his image, Annie is selected. While Annie gets accustomed to living in Warbucks' mansion, she still longs to meet her parents. So Warbucks announces a search for them and a reward, which brings out many frauds.

Aileen Quinn is a delightful Annie, with good feet, an infectious smile, and a perfectly pitched voice. It's not her fault she is used mainly as a performing prop, as is the spectacularly graceful Ann Reinking, playing Warbucks' secretary.

"Annie" is a fun, family movie extravaganza with quintessential songs, dance numbers, superb cast, brilliant costuming, makeup and set dressing. Set during the Great Depression in New York City, it perfectly replicates the era whilst paying immense homage to the musical film classics of the early 1900s. This film is filled with heart, innocence and youth, and it was simply a grand ol' time.
