Ron G I think this is an underrated film. The question of what humanity will become is questioned here. It is filled with various persons and creatures operating to the tune of their faults. I don't understand why the self-proclaimed critics of movies gave it a low rating; maybe because they were expecting an action-filled The Matrix look-alike, but this movie is different rather focusing on the deep implications of human relationships to machines that seem to be "necessary" for technological advancement and survival. It's a scary perspective the one presented in this movie, but a possible one. It is quite appropriate as the weight of experience presses down on many of their actions and goes a long way to explain their otherwise harsh decisions. Many hundreds of words of tedious interactions so needed in other films to explain this can be avoided. No tedious attempts of a young immature actor attempting to empathise with a machine: so no Data (Star Trek). None of the teenage tantrums and angst and impulsiveness which has weakened so many movies such as the later Star Trek movies. Nor any need to suspend belief when once again a young hero has to have more experience or just luck than all others. And seeing him act with his ex-wife, Melanie Griffith was fab!!! Not everything has to be filled with explosive scenes and non-stop action. I found the pace of the story quite realistic without being overly CGI. I do so despise most cgi, and for a low budget movie, with Antonio Bandaras, if you like a good post apocalyptic, sci-fi movie, I think you shall enjoy it.
