DanTheMan 2 From here to maternity. The fourth and final medical adventure for the team, Carry On Matron is wonderfully silly and gleefully executed offering excellent entertainment value even if the medical jokes are starting to look a little frayed by this stage. Most of the regulars are here, firing on all cylinders, clearly loving every minute of screentime they're getting even if the script is prone to reusing old material; their delivery is guaranteed to produce the laughs. There is a strange, demob-happy feel to this film as if the regulars knew that the party was soon to be over. It's all ridiculous in the usual lovable way we've come to expect by this point. The film may have its fair share of slow-moving scenes and a thinly realised plot, with some odd moments of overly crude jokes. However, it also has its fair share of witty gags, the usual double entendres, a sharp script and fun performances. With its enjoyable concoction of French farce, double entendre and slapstick, Carry On Matron proves to be one of the better and funnier later entries of the series, even with its shortcomings.
