Don't Look Back Reviews
Wooden dialogue, jump scares that never actually scare, and a script that heavily endorses a “tell, don’t show” philosophy weigh the story down and leave the viewer wishing they were watching Final Destination instead.

With Don't Look Back very much feeling like a ropey first draft of Final Destination, Reddick's gimmick here is fuzzy compared to the franchise's ruthless focus on the feasibility of outsmarting death.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jun 7, 2021
Horror/thriller about someone or something targeting those who did nothing when they saw a man being badly assaulted. Preachy, yet still muddled about its message.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Feb 14, 2021
Reddick reassures us that his skillset has only improved with time.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Feb 2, 2021
Don't Look Back aims for atmosphere but instead piles on cliché after cliché.
| Jan 22, 2021
Despite its shortcomings, Reddick manages to deliver an attractively shot product with impressive practical effects for such a modest budget.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Dec 12, 2020
I commend Reddick for featuring a strong, black, female lead in his film. Horror is a genre that has historically treated people of color as set dressing with dialogue.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Dec 5, 2020
It may not achieve all its ambitions but it's worth a watch.
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Nov 25, 2020
While the story does get a little too overly ambitious at times, Reddick does a great job of reining it all back in during the third act.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Nov 19, 2020
Other horror films have set the bar very high for true originality and creativity, but Don't Look Back prefers to stay in the low depths of horror clichés that are the equivalent of recycled garbage. The crow ... foreshadowing leaves no room for suspense.

An undemanding audience may enjoy the cheap thrills and get what they deserve, but hardened horror fans will find it a turn off.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Oct 26, 2020
Don't Look Back riffs off of Reddick's infamous Final Destination, but is ultimately far too procedural and by-the-numbers.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Oct 24, 2020
There's a bit more going on in Don't Look Back than just the body count. Caitlin is experiencing something that is either the literal manifestation of karma, or extreme effects of PTSD.
| Oct 19, 2020
Packed with believable acting, dynamic direction, and a nifty twist ending, Don't Look Back emerges as a superb thriller for the viral video generation.
| Original Score: 8.5/10 | Oct 19, 2020
[Jeffrey] Reddick provides some laudably creepy environments and spooky moments.
| Original Score: B | Oct 16, 2020
A potentially intriguing premise is botched as writer/director Jeffery Riddick ponies out one tired horror trope after another, instead of taking a more subtle, psychological approach.
| Original Score: 1.5/4.0 | Oct 16, 2020
When the final revelation of Don't Look Back arrives, there's little to no surprise.
| Original Score: 1.5/4 | Oct 16, 2020
As a horror, it boasts plenty of great jump scares, a strong, dread-soaked atmosphere, and an evocative color palette made up almost entirely of greys and blues. Don't Look Back is confidently its own thing and Reddick's voice is clear throughout.

The better advice is simply not to look at all.
| Original Score: C- | Oct 16, 2020
An odd film as the filmmaker tries to have it both ways as a supernatural thriller and a standard slasher resulting in a compromised film that doesn't succeed on either front.
