Escape does well in exploring themes of empowerment, resilience, identity, survival and retribution, through a sisterly bond and the need to survive. Go in with the idea that it’s a cheesy thriller with some decent acting and you’ll enjoy this film.

Escape is a thriller worth checking out even with predictable story points and characters. The performances and the camera work really sell the story here and make it a film that is easy to sit down and watch, keeping the attention throughout.

There's something to like in this film - it's a very low budget amateur effort, but they've managed a lot of bang for their not much buck. Cute girls, evil-looking villains (did we really need the eyepatch??), overegged backstories to give some "depth". They've found a patch of desert and mountain somewhere that gives a lot of mileage on the scenery. Saw it at a film awards day - and it was one of the better ones I saw that day. It deserves to make a profit, and the director and some of the cast (Sarah Marks, Sean Cronin especially) deserve to get more chances as they build their careers. Creds to the cinematographer - Travellian Skipaldi - both for having a brilliant name and for managing to squeeze some real juice out of a lot of scenes of people... running.

The desert setting is a compelling choice, amplifying the isolation and danger that surround the characters. However, the film’s budget constraints are visible, particularly in its production quality, reminding us that indie filmmaking often requires balancing creative ambition with financial limitations. Despite its flaws, Escape offers an engaging experience for fans of low-budget horror, capturing the essence of its genre.
