Documentarian Bradley Beesley, the friend and neighbor of Flaming Lips front man Wayne Coyne, goes deep into the world of this well-known art-rock outfit. Through new and old footage and interviews, Beesley portrays Coyne as a mostly average, hard-working guy who still lives in his home state of Oklahoma, but also shows some drama; band member Steven Drozd even shoots up heroin onscreen. The film also features live performances and appearances by famous fans.

Audience Member As a fan with little knowledge of the history of the flaming lip, watching this documentary was a treat. We follow the lives of the members of the band spanning up to when the album yoshimi battles the pink robots was toured; Its a joy to watch and has some very enlightening and thrilling content. Also watching Steven Drozd documentation of his heroin addiction and acting watching him shoot up, is both horrifying to watch and uncomforting. This really is an intimate piece and its nice to see a documentary make you feel like your a family member of the band. My only gripe with it is that it hangs around for a bit too long, there is quite a bit of filler in there, its not unwatchable but it hurts the flow of the piece somewhat, A must for lips fans and a must if you have no idea who they are because by the end of this, youll want to be part of their nutty thrill ride. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member Love the pacing of this intimate portrait of the Lips. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/27/23 Full Review
