Men & Chicken Reviews
Men and Chicken is just as much of a horror as it is a comedy and a family drama. It’s the most disturbing yet hilarious movie I’ve seen for a long time.

Jensen and his game cast (especially Mikkelsen, who's hard to recognize at points) make it work too, and turn Men & Chicken into a film that's just as strange as it is entertaining.

Somewhat front-heavy, the twisted and demented Men and Chicken starts as a broad screwball comedy yet ends as a sobering and existential study of fraternity.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Mar 29, 2019
The effect of a carefully calculated balance is that Men & Chicken unfolds to become more complex than it at first appears.

It's a warped comedy about genetics, a slapstick farce, an existential enquiry, and it's likely to be a cult movie.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Feb 20, 2019
Sweet, funny, strange, and heartfelt, it is an outright great film that your friends will likely hate you for recommending.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Nov 7, 2018
If you stick around for the ride, it's provocative, fantastical, and disturbingly funny.

The comic-surreal atmosphere and rule-governed perversity are satisfying throughout, and Mikkelsen's clueless-asshole deadpan is a hoot.
| Nov 20, 2017
Slapstick, scatological, juvenile, and crass. I loved it.

Sinister yet hilarious.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Jan 2, 2017
A sci-fi-esque premise Kafka would be proud of... silly, slapstick, empathetic and amusing.

Anders Thomas Jensen is one of Denmark's most fĂȘted film-makers, the winner of two Oscars and a man with a knack for twisted comedies.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Oct 10, 2016
Men & Chicken is strange and often dark, but it's weirdly sweet, too, not to mention very funny. If you like The League Of Gentlemen then you're going to want to catch this.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Jul 19, 2016
Like the mansion where most of the action unfolds, writer/director Anders Thomas Jensen's fourth feature brims with mutant creatures, bestial desires and warped family feelings.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 17, 2016
A film that celebrates the joy of living and the strength of family ties, even if the family gene pool has been adulterated in the most spectacular way.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Jul 17, 2016
A darkly comic dysfunctional family drama rather than the carnival of grotesquery it could have been.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Jul 17, 2016
Men and Chicken, though funny, isn't really nasty. It celebrates its misbegotten brood.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Jul 15, 2016
The actors capture the boorishness and animalistic side of their characters, but also their vulnerability in the face of a world that makes such little sense to them.
| Original Score: 4/5 | Jul 15, 2016
Hilarious, charming, and slightly traumatic.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 15, 2016
Hilarious in places, hideous in others, this struggles to make its philosophical case. But the performances are exceptional and the conceit could not be more daring or distinctive.
