Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle Reviews
Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle transcends its origins. [Full review in Spanish]
| Original Score: 7/10 | Sep 26, 2024
Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle just seems like another juxtaposition of moving images to watch when all other options are exhausted.
| Original Score: C- | Aug 1, 2024
The slightly off visuals and scattershot tone makes the experience very hard to get on board with.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jul 14, 2024
Despite its impressive roster of voice performers and the appealing, weightier treatment of Rudyard Kipling's original characters, Serkis' film is a mass of aesthetic contradictions.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Mar 4, 2022
My only hope is that this version of the classic tale doesn't get forgotten - its darkness is heavy but there's beauty within it.
| Original Score: 4 / 5 | Jun 25, 2021
A bloodier alternative to the classic Rudyard Kipling novel for those who like a little grit with their fairy tales.

Of all the versions of The Jungle Book, Mowgli sure is the runt of the pack.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jul 23, 2020
If you can relate to the gravitas that Serkis lends to a much-loved jungle tale, Mowgli: Legend Of The Jungle is the film for you.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jul 21, 2020
Unlike Jon Favreau's insipid 2016 live-action retread... this live-action adaptation of Rudyard Kipling's classic about a feral Indian boy reared by wolves teems with flesh, blood, and mud, conveying a true sense of danger and adventure.

A visually impressive live-action film.
| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Aug 19, 2019
There's nothing charming and whimsical about being a child lost in the animal kingdom. And there's certainly no singing.

The movie is inspiring thanks to its philosophical lessons about the human nature. [Full Review in Spanish]

The film is too gory for young viewers and likely to leave children frightened and upset and it isn't a very pleasant viewing experience for adults either.

Mowgli has little more to offer besides technical prowess. [Full Review in Spanish]
| Original Score: 2.5/5 | Mar 4, 2019
The motion capture is beautiful and expressive and is a reason why I will gladly rewatch this Netflix original and share it with others
| Original Score: 9/10 | Feb 27, 2019
The characters don't do anything interesting and Mowgli is a jungle boy who stays the same through the movie. I immediately forgot about the movie as soon as I finished watching it, which is a real shame
| Original Score: 3/10 | Feb 8, 2019
It's not exactly an original take on Rudyard Kipling's stories any more than the Disney version was, but it's a refreshing change for anyone hungry for a change of pace from Disney's monopoly.
| Original Score: 7/10 | Jan 28, 2019
A frustratingly grim take on the material that feels unfinished and under-realized.
| Jan 19, 2019
The jungle vistas are stunning and you often forget that what you're seeing is nearly entirely CGI. But the sweeping jungle takes over the plot a little too easily as the story jumps around, never really settling on what it wants to be.
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jan 10, 2019
Stripped of comedy and song, the film sits in a dour netherworld - too dark and scary for young viewers, too simplistic for adults.
