Audience Member I thought this was a good African American romantic drama. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member The male lead character (Curtis) was a bit phony to begin with. Was he a mr. nice guy or was he not? During one of the unnecessary scenes, he was in bed with his friend with benefits and he asks if they could date. My sentiments exactly. He comes off as the nice church boy who believes in no sex before marriage-but doesn't count the occasional blow job as being sex. The story line was cliche complete with the pretty girl who doesn't want a man (that is until she finds the sexy lead actor), her sassy black friend and a gay best friend. Curtis' father keeps showing up like a super hero-he is completely unnecessary to the story. Doesn't bring much to the table both as Curtis' father and in the movie. Just another absentee father. The dialogue was awkward and poorly written. I enjoyed the performance of said sassy friend-though i have to add that i have seen her in other movies playing the same role as-you guessed it, the sassy friend.
