Queen Ravenna (Charlize Theron), who seized control of her kingdom by marrying and killing its rightful ruler, needs the life force of young maidens to maintain her beauty. However, to become truly immortal, Ravenna must consume the heart of her stepdaughter Snow White (Kristen Stewart). Snow escapes, and Ravenna dispatches a huntsman (Chris Hemsworth) to capture her. Not a perfect movie by any stretch of the imagination, Snow White and the Huntsman can boast truly magnificent performances--minus Stewart, of course--an interesting take on a beloved tale, and gorgeous scenes. Too bad about some of that plot though.

I don’t understand why people hate this movie so much. It’s a fantasy fairytale, it’s not Lord of the Rings with multiple books of back story. It’s a pretty straightforward retelling of the classic. The costumes, CGI, and landscapes are all beautifully executed. The battle scenes were epic and the cinematography is thoughtful. I was surprised how well it held up since it’s been nearly 13 years since I watched it. Sure the dialogue could have used some fine tuning and there’s some magical nonsense, but it’s a fairytale. If you have some imagination, you’ll probably enjoy it.

One of my favorite movies of all time. So beautiful Kristin Stewart delivers an amazing performance, her commitment to this role is captivating. The scenery is so gorgeous and the dark vibe gives the whole movie a mysterious and almost Erie feeling, while at the same time being magical and whimsical. Could not recommend this movie more!
