A thrilling movie that caused me the most disgusting reaction of despair for the judicial system (even if fantasy, it looks like very possible story), with a main character that represent us all and nobody, but that at the end has a well define line between right and wrong.

Exceptional cinematography that captures the feeling of helplessness by the characters in the film, Alejandro Fernandez Almendras seems to forget the importance of his storytelling. This is a good film that should have been a great film. Despite the production values and acting, the film never manages to satisfy.

Es una muy lograda película. Quizás los directores chilenos han perdido cierto gusto por el suspenso y se limitan a contar la historia, pero finalmente resulta un buen relato. Actuaciones suficientes.

This is a very minimalist revenge thriller about a good family man who's simply pushed to the brink of his sanity due to a man who's intent on harassing him and his family after an incident between them ended with the harasser in jail. After the bully gets released from prison, after only spending over a year in prison, he decides he wants to go after the family by following them, harassing them, throwing stones at their house for what they did, even though he was the one who fucked up in the first place. The family, understandably, at first, goes to the police as they try to get this man put back in jail. They do file police reports, try to talk to the district attorney, but nothing comes of it and the man continually keeps harassing them. Jorge, taking matters into his own hands, decides to do something about by murdering Alamos, the bully. Fairly simple story to be honest, one that completely shits on the justice system in Chile, where nothing is done about a man continually harassing a family. Jorge was essentially forced to take matters into his own hands due to the fact that the bureaucratic way has yielded absolutely no results. Which is ironic because then Jorge would be the one to go to prison for taking the law into his own hands instead of the government putting a stop to this harassment by simply arresting the man. It's definitely got some social commentary there, because these themes are definitely universal. As mentioned, the film is incredibly minimal. The acting is more understated and realistic than what you normally get from these films, where there's a lot of melodramatics in place. I just mean that it's a little more 'over-the-top' and not melodramatic in the way a Nicholas Sparks movie is melodramatic. So it's refreshing to see this, a film that tries to tell a believable and psychological story as Jorge decides to become a man that he never would've become if it weren't due to the circumstances of his situation. I think the film, with its lack of extensive dialogue/monologues and its usage of long shots, will definitely test the patience of some people. But I was completely invested in the film from beginning to end, there's just something about this movie that I really liked. I was hooked from the start and I think that's probably one of the things a movie like this wants. It may be a little quiet and understated, but it is an intense and, at times, disturbing story. Like I said, it's definitely not a movie for every body. This isn't The Lego Movie, where it brings together movie nerds from all sides of the spectrum, it's gonna appeal to one very specific type of movie nerd. It's just a fair warning for those who are expecting a Kill Bill/Oldboy-type revenge film. And this is coming from someone who would say that Oldboy is his favorite film ever made, not the best I've seen, just my personal favorite. This isn't that, this is more a character study about a man who's just pushed too far and the extremes he feels he has to take in order to protect those he loves. And it's a damn good one at that. I can't wholeheartedly recommend this, but I really liked this movie. And that's all I can really say about it.
