White Men Can't Jump Reviews
Why remake this and add nothing new or interesting to the discussion
| Jan 8, 2024
If you like the 1992 classic you might enjoy this update, but if you don’t have the time to kill, it’s probably worth sticking to the original.

Doesn’t exactly work up a sweat in the ideas department.
| Original Score: C | Aug 14, 2023
The chemistry between Sinqua Walls and Jack Harlow is great but the movie takes every cliché from sports movies, hood movies and throws them at a generic story that isn't strong enough to withstand them.
| Original Score: D | Aug 1, 2023
The worst crime committed by White Men Can’t Jump is how tedious and routine it feels.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jul 25, 2023
I really wish Hollywood would realize that you can’t just clap a title on a beloved film and repackage with no originality or depth. This lacked character development, story structure, chemistry and at the end of the day, its just a poorly made film.
| Original Score: 2/5 | Jul 23, 2023
About as memorable as a scrimmage.

At times it’s affecting, but mostly, it’s a whole lot of air balls thrown up willy-nilly.
| Original Score: C | Jul 1, 2023
While never reaching the heights of the original this one does enough to stand on its own and welcome a new generation of fans.

As it stands, this movie shares virtually nothing in common with the 1992 movie and could have stood to replicate the energy that Ron Shelton’s film had in abundance. Basketball fans know now that white men can jump, but this remake cannot.
| Original Score: 4/10 | Jun 2, 2023
The affable banter of the leads ensures that this remains a likeable, if entirely unnecessary, affair
| Original Score: 3/5 | Jun 1, 2023
Director Calmatic is both NBA and hip-hop savvy, but the film lacks any real urgency.

Though some of the game scenes are impressive (Tommy Maddox-Upshaw’s cinematography gives the imagery a sun-kissed look), you’d be better off watching Shelton’s film instead if you’ve somehow missed it.
| Original Score: 2/4 | Jun 1, 2023
The remake seems to be trying hard to be edgy, with music video director Calmatic at the helm, and it's sometimes successful.
| May 30, 2023
Screenwriter Kenya Barris & Director Calmatic have no clue what made Ron Shelton's 1992 film sing, downgrading the chemistry of the leads and substituting the most basic of racial sensitivities until it is nothing but a travesty of a generic sports movie.
| Original Score: 0/4 | May 29, 2023
White Men Can't Jump 2.0 is hilarious, it doesn't quite strike lightning like the original, but still equals to a fun evening with the fam kicking off the summer box office.

Stop remaking stuff!
| Original Score: 1.5/5 | May 26, 2023
In the remake, there is no true glue, just a lot of duct tape that barely patches this wobbly concept together.
| Original Score: D+ | May 26, 2023
As is, this update jumps, but never high enough.
| Original Score: 2.5/4 | May 24, 2023
White Men Can't Jump is a solid (if predictable) sports film that works as intended -- even if it doesn't reach the heights of the original.
