Diamanti (2024) - - 10/10 EDIT “Through each of the characters, the story reflects on themes such as grief, gender violence, art, impossible love and friendship. Consequently, given the themes and the way the story is narrated, the film is in a way, a reworking of traditional melodrama.” – EscribiendoCine Apr 21, 2025 Full Review Gloria! (2024) 90% 8/10 EDIT “Gloria! appealing to poetic justice, proposes a world of musical classicism where women achieve a more equal position with men (...) the film vindicates the memory of women composers throughout history, highlighting their struggle for recognition...” – EscribiendoCine Apr 13, 2025 Full Review Novocaine (2025) 81% 7/10 EDIT “Ultimately, the film is accomplished, its dark humor is on point, and it's entertaining, if somewhat predictable at times. Although its plot twist is more than successful, Novocaine is entertaining and fun, but not surprising. ” – EscribiendoCine Mar 15, 2025 Full Review The Brutalist (2024) 93% 9/10 EDIT “The Brutalist is more than a film, it´s a cinematographic experience with architectural forms that surround us and contain us in this story. Just like its protagonist, who tries to express his pain through his art...” – EscribiendoCine Feb 8, 2025 Full Review A Complete Unknown (2024) 82% 7.5/10 EDIT “In conclusion, the filme is just like the man it tries to portray, does not resort to grandiloquence or excessive spectacular artifice, but rather to simplicity. The story and its rhythm are accomplished and engaging, although lack emotion.” – EscribiendoCine Feb 1, 2025 Full Review Grave of the Fireflies (1988) 100% 8.5/10 EDIT “It is a moving piece in front of which the public cannot remain indifferent, the story enunciates with warmth and raw honesty, the consequences of war on childhood and its irreversible consequences and how the adults seem to be absent...” – EscribiendoCine Feb 1, 2025 Full Review The Piano Lesson (2024) 88% 7/10 EDIT “In addition to the magical realism component, the film has some accomplished musical moments that are relevant. The staging is very theatrical, meaning that it maintains its rhythms and structure, and does not exaggerate with cinematographic resources... ” – EscribiendoCine Feb 1, 2025 Full Review Heretic (2024) 91% 7/10 EDIT “The peculiar host strikes the right balance between being friendly and diabolic... [Full review in Spanish]” – EscribiendoCine Dec 4, 2024 Full Review Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story (2024) 98% 8/10 EDIT “The documentary constantly reflects on how Reeve functioned within the star-system and his text-star as an action hero. The title performs a grammatical game separating the traditional Superman with Super/Man, separating the man from the character. ” – EscribiendoCine Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Culpa cero (2024) - - 6/10 EDIT “...Therefore, we are faced with a story prepared by women that reflects and exposes several issues of the links between them, their insecurities and hypocrisies, but also their unconditionality.” – EscribiendoCine Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Mi Padre y Yo (2024) - - 6.5/10 EDIT “The documentary is a heartfelt tribute to Leopoldo Torre Nilsson, who should be remembered forever for his fundamental contribution to the culture and history of world cinema. It doesn´t have formal innovations but it shows interesting archival material” – Puesta en Escena (AR) Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Mimì: The Prince of Darkness (2023) - - 6/10 EDIT “The movie offers us a fantastic story that oscillates between vampire legends and realism, leaning towards fantasy in its ending, which allows for the presence of ambiguity, does the last scene happen or is it a product of Mimi's imagination?...” – EscribiendoCine Nov 5, 2024 Full Review The Silent Party (2019) 78% 8/10 EDIT “The Silent Party can be considered to have elements of the rape and revenge. Due to its constant suspense and the excellent management of intrigue, the filme is very entertaining for the viewer who feels comfortable with this type of genre.” – Metacultura (AR) Nov 5, 2024 Full Review Quant (2021) 100% 8/10 EDIT “Quant is a very concise and interesting documentary, because in addition to narrating the main events in the work and life of the fashion designer and businesswoman, it also sets out the historical and sociocultural context in England during the 1960s.” – EscribiendoCine Oct 9, 2024 Full Review Speak No Evil (2024) 83% 7.5/10 EDIT “The current version maintains the sociological focus but downplaying the importance of territorial origin to adhere to class and economic reasons. Speak No Evil is not a simple remake, there is a reinterpretation work and several differences...” – EscribiendoCine Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Beetlejuice Beetlejuice (2024) 75% 8/10 EDIT “Despite having a resolution of the final conflict too quickly and leaving the interesting character of Dolores somewhat blurred, it manages to entertain and satisfy the public, because the feature film is constantly full of his originality and trademarks” – EscribiendoCine Sep 6, 2024 Full Review The Parties (2022) - - 5.5/10 EDIT “As happens in many independent arthouse films, in Las Fiestas you have the feeling that as the story progresses, little happens in terms of action, and at times the verisimilitude declines. On the other hand, the success of its outcome stands out...” – Puesta en Escena (AR) Aug 22, 2024 Full Review The Bikeriders (2023) 80% 8/10 EDIT “In his works, Nichols is concerned with telling stories while staying very close to the characters, without judging them. The director then constructs portraits of life that, far from being flat, have several edges that make them interesting...” – EscribiendoCine Aug 22, 2024 Full Review The Peasants (2023) 61% 9/10 EDIT “In conclusion, once again the filmmakers offer a work where form and content correspond and are enhanced through a beautiful aesthetic work that offers great visual delight and a complex and ruthless story that functions as a portrait of an era.” – EscribiendoCine Aug 22, 2024 Full Review The Beekeeper (2024) 71% 8/10 EDIT “Like the perspective of the protagonist who maintains certain traditional ideals, the film outlines a forceful criticism of the models of pyramid schemes and of the young generations. Once again Statham's star text legitimizes him as a hero of the action ” – EscribiendoCine Aug 22, 2024 Full Review Kidnapped: The Abduction of Edgardo Mortara (2023) 86% 9/10 EDIT “Without a doubt, this incredible true event that shows the antiquity of anti-Semitism and the brutal conversion attempts that the Jews suffered, deserved to be brought to the big screen.” – Puesta en Escena (AR) Aug 22, 2024 Full Review Robot Dreams (2023) 98% 7.5/10 EDIT “Robot Dreams offers an entertaining and warm story about how emotional bonds are transmuted, with the lesson that sometimes it is also appropriate to let them go to build new ones, with a bittersweet flavor due to the alternation of comedy and drama... ” – Puesta en Escena (AR) Aug 22, 2024 Full Review Perfect Days (2023) 96% 8/10 EDIT “The richness of Días Perfectos consists of its traditional portrait where the protagonist sees each day with the enthusiasm of a new day. He lives each day in his uniqueness, aware that each one of them is unrepeatable... ” – Puesta en Escena (AR) Aug 22, 2024 Full Review Wonka (2023) 82% 6/10 EDIT “The accomplished work of the technical teamm, especially the production and costume design is notable.
