U.S. soldier Frank Dux (Jean-Claude Van Damme) has come to Hong Kong to be accepted into the Kumite, a highly secret and extremely violent martial-arts competition. While trying to gain access into the underground world of clandestine fighters, he also has to avoid military officers who consider him to be AWOL. *puts on nostalgia glasses* Man! Bloodsport is such a fun action flick! The fight scenes are exciting and there are so many iconic moments and quotable lines. *takes glasses off* Huh. I know I thought this movie was awesome when I was a kid, but now it’s obvious that the acting is pretty awful, the dialogue is clunky & cliched, and the story doesn’t make a lot of sense. *glasses on* Whoa! A helicopter kick! Jean-Claude Van Damme is so cool! It’s no wonder this film was such a hit! *glasses off* How did this make so much money? Look, I know it’s not great, but I’ll always get a kick out of Bloodsport.
