Audience Member If I could sum it up in in one phrase it would be 'All The Young Pseuds'. It reminded me of when I was art college. I kept getting invited to Theatre Studies parties and everyone at them was relentlessly fake and contrived like the characters in this film. They made everyone on Fine Art like me seem reassuringly real by comparison. I think I've probably done this film a service by aligning it with some potential social actuality. I don't mean to. Watching it is a thoroughly gruelling experience because you're always anticipating some narrative intervention to turn up at any time and interrupt the shallow musing with another register but it never does. All potential for this is ignored. For example the moment when one character recites his poem consisting of two words feebly repeated a few times is ripe for comedy but nope, the script doesn't want to go that way. Anyway I hope the cast and production crew got something to put on their CVs out of this. The film may have been pretty rubbish but they will have gained solid experience from the act of making it. Yes, we've all been teenagers, and we can all agree than none of the situations, love stories or formulaic relationships are not even remotely close to what is actually feels to come to the age of female adolescence. It really spends proper time with the characters, who are mostly young teenagers, and actually listens to them, rather than telling them what they should be like. There are some interesting plot structures which are challenging to follow but mostly I loved it for the overall energy.
