Mute Witness Reviews
Not too bad a movie. Probably more of a thriller than a horror for me. Decently acted for a 90s flick and moves along at a good pace. I think most will be able to pick a certain pivotal end scene well before it happens.
Mute Witness is an enjoyable horror film that takes joy in playing with its audiences right from the opening scene. Anything can happen here, and nothing on-screen is predictable. While the quality of the film gives off the vibe and appearance of a midday movie made for 온라인카지노추천, its visuals remain impressive, particularly when the lead is running around and attempting to find safety. While the film begins strongly as a horror film, as it progresses, its story becomes less horrifying while continuing to be fun and silly. Marina Zudina, as Billy, a mute makeup artist, is likable and great, but the side performances are challenging to listen to. Either way, it's a great way to kill time and experience some fun horror from the 90s.
Everything in this film is mediocre but put together, it makes a reasonably gripping thriller. The lead actress carries the movie on her shoulders, which is the only reason I kept watching. Luckily, the ending isn't disappoint.
Like some of Hitchcock's thrillers, this one has an unlikely premise and lots of implausible bits, but it also delivers a butt ton of suspense, action, and wit. It's fun and engaging throughout and really doesn't miss a beat. Suspend disbelief and don't poke too hard or you might uncover a plot hole, but as pure entertainment it succeeds.
Nearly 25 years later this inventive thriller manages to hold-up as a goose-bump inducing game changer, it certainly deserves a spot on the shelf of any genre fan.
I was not expecting this movie to be as dumb as it was. None of the plot or character motivations make sense to the point I would actually classify this as a so-bad-it's-good movie.
This movie had a promising start. The beginning is poking fun at death scenes in horror movies, and I found it quite funny. Then, makeup artist Billy, who is mute, is locked in the studio after trying (non verbally) to get the attention of the guard. She tries to call her sister and her sister's bumbling boyfriend and finally gets through, and they come to get her. Meanwhile Billy stumbles what looks like a porn movie that turns into a snuff film. While trying to escape, she is detected and is chased down a hallway. This part of the film is very suspenseful, but after about 5 minutes of trying to get to the emergency escape, the movie takes a turn to the ridiculous. Billy, very loudly, moves from hallway to hallway. She witnesses the body being disposed of while hanging in an elevator. After she finally escapes she calls out one of the men involved to her sister who gets there in the "nick of time". The sister tells her boyfriend to get the police and stays with Billy and THE KILLER and NOTHING HAPPENS! Then the police question Billy in front of the suspects, who of course, explain it away. The other chase scene that takes place in Billy's apartment is laughable, the undercover cop is weird, and her sister and sister's boyfriend are idiots. Without giving the rest of the movie away, the ending tries to be clever, but it turns out really hokey. The movie has a promising beginning, but fails miserably to deliver. Mute Witness is predictable, ridiculous, and downright silly.
Makeup artist witnesses what she thinks is an actual murder while on a Moscow film set. Problem is, she can't speak. Chilling story with dark, humorous touches and a cameo appearance by sir Alec Guinness, filmed a decade before.
Mute Witness is a well executed low-budget horror/thiller. Some of the suspense and chase sequences are quite well done and the script has a few holes, but it's generally quite clever. Add in some decent acting and we have an enjoyable ride.
Don't be deceived by the intriguing cover for this film. It had elements of a good thriller but it's cheesy the whole way through. Really not my cup of tea because I couldn't take it seriously. I was actually starting to get tense during a few scenes but then the silly scenarios would play out coupled with bad acting and I would find myself laughing. I hated those inappropriate scenes which cheapened the film and took away from any thrilling moment I had experienced. These type of movies are the bane of my existence and I hope the director is bankrupt somewhere for intentionally sabotaging any chance this film had at becoming a hit or cult classic.
Wow! What a movie... Though the film didn't mix the comedy well with the thrills, nevertheless it blew my mind.. The thrills were good.. Certainly this movie has given ideas to many movies across the world..
