The Trouble with Jessica (2023) 60% 3/4 “The script, by James Handel and director Matt Winn, is tightly constructed.” – RogerEbert.com Apr 25, 2025 Full Review Sneaks (2025) 33% 3.5/4 “It’s clearly told from the heart and as exhilarating as putting on a new pair of kicks. ” – RogerEbert.com Apr 18, 2025 Full Review The Wedding Banquet (2025) 88% B “As appealing as the actors playing the two couples are, the heart of the film is in the two women in the older generations. ” – Movie Mom Apr 18, 2025 Full Review The Italians (2024) B- “The movie shifts in subject and tone to focus on marital issues between Angelina and Vincenzo and then shifts abruptly into sentimental drama. Somehow by that point we still feel connected to the family and the conclusion is genuinely touching.” – Movie Mom Apr 13, 2025 Full Review Sacramento (2024) 87% 2/4 “One more screenplay draft would have been worthwhile; there are glimmers of a better version that create some optimism for Angarano’s next film. ” – RogerEbert.com Apr 11, 2025 Full Review The Amateur (2025) 60% B- ““The Amateur” may not be memorable or make sense, but it benefits from a strong cast, it looks glossy (outstanding work on the settings), the action scenes move along well and that pool scene really is pretty special.” – Movie Mom Apr 8, 2025 Full Review The Ballad of Wallis Island (2025) 97% B+ “We may all wish for a visit to Wallis Island when the movie ends.” – Movie Mom Apr 5, 2025 Full Review A Nice Indian Boy (2024) 96% 3.5/4 “Screenwriters Eric Randall and Madhuri Shekar give us believable characters with a believable connection,” – RogerEbert.com Apr 4, 2025 Full Review Centered: Joe Lieberman (2025) 3/4 “It is an unabashed but superficial love letter to the proudly bipartisan Senator and a bittersweet love letter to a time that seems quaintly innocent in its civility. ” – RogerEbert.com Apr 2, 2025 Full Review A Minecraft Movie (2025) 48% B “Its appreciation for the endless potential of imagination should be more likely to inspire viewers to try to play the game or even create their own.” – Movie Mom Apr 2, 2025 Full Review Audrey's Children (2024) 88% 3/4 “A solid, often engaging and inspiring drama, anchored by Dormer’s committed performance. ” – RogerEbert.com Mar 28, 2025 Full Review The Penguin Lessons (2024) 80% B+ “There is so much warmth and humor in this story that we cannot help feeling touched by the story and maybe even thinking about a penguin of our own.” – Movie Mom Mar 27, 2025 Full Review The Friend (2024) 83% B+ “While we see the Iris-Apollo relationship develop from putting up each other to deep affection, the movie is much more a meditation on grief, and it matches the literary grace of the book with delicacy and depth.” – Movie Mom Mar 27, 2025 Full Review Death of a Unicorn (2025) 54% B “Its audacity and imagination are impressive and the skill and commitment of the cast makes it very watchable.” – Movie Mom Mar 27, 2025 Full Review Disney's Snow White (2025) 40% 2.5/4 “Some parts of the film work better than others, but none of it has the sweetness and imagination of the animated feature. This “Snow White” is not the fairest of them all. It’s just, well, fair.” – RogerEbert.com Mar 19, 2025 Full Review Opus (2025) 41% B- “"Opus" is almost smart, almost good, and almost worth your time. A first-rate but mostly under-used cast flounders in the second half of a story that begins as a satire of obsession with celebrity that veers into a less successful thriller.” – Movie Mom Mar 14, 2025 Full Review Novocaine (2025) 81% B- “None of it makes sense, even if he does stop for an adrenaline injection, but if we wanted to see something make sense we’d be at a different movie.” – Movie Mom Mar 14, 2025 Full Review The Parenting (2025) 48% 3/4 “Director Craig Johnson and screenwriter Kent Sublette (“Saturday Night Live”) find a nice balance for the boo-surprises, creepiness, and humor, with a resolution that brings everything and everyone together.” – RogerEbert.com Mar 13, 2025 Full Review Night of the Zoopocalypse (2024) 96% 2/4 “The mechanics of the chase scenes are well-designed, but the overall look of the film is lackluster, the characters are thinly imagined, and the dialogue is oddly obscure.” – RogerEbert.com Mar 10, 2025 Full Review Mickey 17 (2025) 77% B+ “Director Bong Joon Ho continues the sly, dark humor and provocative commentary on class hierarchies, hypocrisy, and pervasive societal inequities he featured in “Parasite,” “Snowpiercer,” and “Okja.”” – Movie Mom Mar 5, 2025 Full Review My Dead Friend Zoe (2024) 95% A- “Sonequa Martin-Green gives an exquisite, unforgettable performance and writer/director Kyle Hausemann-Stokes brings enormous specificity and understanding to a story of love, grief, memory, and healing.” – Movie Mom Feb 28, 2025 Full Review The Unbreakable Boy (2025) 48% 3/4 “The movie is a very sincere and good-hearted adaptation, but it loses focus by trying to include too many elements of the real-life story.” – RogerEbert.com Feb 21, 2025 Full Review Paddington in Peru (2024) 93% B+ “Like the others, this latest entry in the Paddington saga is visually enchanting, charmingly funny, surprisingly wise, and genuinely heartwarming. I admit I teared up near the end.” – Movie Mom Feb 13, 2025 Full Review Love Hurts (2025) 19% B “Quan and DeBose have endlessly appealing screen presences and the fight scenes are superbly choreographed, but the brutality of the fight scenes is so intense and disturbing that it will outweigh the lighter moments for many viewers. ” – Movie Mom Feb 6, 2025 Full Review Suze (2023) 100% B+ ““Suze” keeps us enthralled with the specifics, authentically messy, of the developing relationship. ” – Movie Mom Feb 6, 2025 Full Review
