Rez Ball (2024) 94% 9.2 “FROM A NATIVE AMERICAN CRITIC: Netflix’s sports drama REZBALL is a game-winning three-pointer! Sydney Freeland and Sterlin Harjo’s REZBALL will become a classic with staying power that will last for generations to come. Standout performances!” – Native Viewpoint Sep 17, 2024 Full Review Horizon: An American Saga - Chapter 1 (2024) 51% 7.2/10 “A massive undertaking by Costner that might appear intimidating at first, but in the end, comes together nicely. As a Native American film critic, I would have liked to see a bit more humanizing backstories for the Native characters. ” – Native Viewpoint Jun 21, 2024 Full Review Bad River (2024) 100% 10/10 “‘Bad River’ is an exceptional testament to Native resilience. I laughed, cried and raised my hand in triumph. As a critic, ‘Bad River’ fulfills all of my personally desired elements and thus earns a well-deserved 10 out of 10. I highly recommend it! ” – Native Viewpoint Mar 2, 2024 Full Review Killers of the Flower Moon (2023) 93% 10/10 “As a Native American, I can say this is one of Scorsese's best films. Historically and culturally accurate, Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio are exceptional, and Lily Gladstone delivers an electrifying and Oscar-worthy performance.” – Native Viewpoint Oct 14, 2023 Full Review Blue Beetle (2023) 78% 6.5/10 “The actors were funny and lovable, but the Blue Beetle’s real enemy in this movie was the stereotypical Hollywood trope. I really wanted to love Blue Beetle. I really did.” – Native Viewpoint Aug 21, 2023 Full Review Prey (2022) 94% 9.2/10 “Amber Midthunder and Dakota Beavers create a great bond in Prey, set 300 years ago in Comanche territory. Beautiful cinematography, excellent choreography, The Best Predator Movie Ever.” – Native Viewpoint Aug 3, 2022 Full Review The Unknown Country (2022) 92% 10/10 “A beautiful film with a thoughtfully profound journey that slowly reveals itself. As a Native American critic, it is also an admittedly terrifying film considering the plight of MMIW. Lily Gladstone does an exceptional job.” – Native Viewpoint Mar 18, 2022 Full Review Eternals (2021) 47% 9.2/10 “An interesting storyline in the Marvel Universe that in my opinion, proves how the status quo just might miss the most impactful reason comic books existed in the first place. In my view, comic readers will likely appreciate this movie more.” – Native Viewpoint Feb 25, 2022 Full Review The King's Man (2021) 41% 6.4/10 “With all of the excitement of the Kingsman franchise so far, this was a bit of an over-historic dud.” – Native Viewpoint Feb 25, 2022 Full Review Free Guy (2021) 80% 8.2/10 “Not a bad comedic role for Reynolds, who was once again a laugh a minute, and Taika Waititi was refreshing, but a bit corny in its formulaic wrap-up.” – Native Viewpoint Feb 25, 2022 Full Review Antlers (2021) 60% 7.1/10 “Not too bad, a couple of jump scares, but not the best scary movie Ive seen. The Indigenous theme seemed a bit mismanaged, and as a Native man, believe me I am accustomed to it.” – Native Viewpoint Feb 25, 2022 Full Review Encounter (2021) 55% 9.5/10 “An exploration of a U.S. Marine and father's troubled love for his two sons. The biggest fight is against his own demons, thus, a beautiful formula for a film.” – Native Viewpoint Jan 8, 2022 Full Review The Old Ways (2021) 98% 9.0/10 “"The Old Ways,'' is a super creepy Indigenous-themed film that made my skin crawl in the best way.” – Indian Country Today Nov 4, 2021 Full Review The Suicide Squad (2021) 90% 8.5/10 “Definitely a movie worth watching and enjoying. In so many ways, The Suicide Squad' lives up to its name, but I am starting to see the formulaic nature of superhero movies, which is worrisome.” – Indian Country Today Aug 20, 2021 Full Review The Tomorrow War (2021) 52% 6.9/10 “Chris Pratt is likable enough in this unique action-packed film, but it wasn't serious enough to be a super-thriller, or funny enough to be an action-comedy.” – Indian Country Today Aug 20, 2021 Full Review The Hitman's Wife's Bodyguard (2021) 25% 7.5/10 “I can't get enough of the relationship between Ryan Reynolds and Samuel Jackson, throw in Salma Hayek, Morgan Freeman and Antonio Banderas and stick a fork in me, I'm done.” – Indian Country Today Aug 20, 2021 Full Review Spin (2021) 9.5/10 “A beautiful gem of a movie by Disney highlighting the beauty of Indian American culture and the millennial quest for finding self-identity.” – Indian Country Today Aug 20, 2021 Full Review Jolt (2021) 40% 9.2/10 “Super fun, super funny, and though a bit formulaic, it's like riding a roller coaster that you would never tire of. Kate Beckinsale owns it, delivers it and smiles with a gun hidden behind her back.” – Indian Country Today Aug 20, 2021 Full Review A Quiet Place Part II (2021) 91% 8.9/10 “Emily Blunt does an exceptional job in a movie that ends a bit too soon - before it can get started in answering my unaddressed questions or do enough exploring” – Indian Country Today Aug 20, 2021 Full Review Space Jam: A New Legacy (2021) 25% 4.9/10 “LeBron James actually pulled off a feel good movie, but for all of the good this movie shows, the commercialization grossly overshadows its message.” – Indian Country Today Aug 20, 2021 Full Review Gunpowder Milkshake (2021) 60% 9.0/10 “A wild ride and an impressive and even unapologetically stylized film, with great action and funny moments. Karen Gillan is a gem. And oh yeah, "kill the patriarchy!"” – Indian Country Today Jul 17, 2021 Full Review Black Widow (2021) 79% 9.5/10 “It's the Marvel movie we've been waiting for, and though it's an excellent film, I just couldn't shake the fact that I was watching a movie of a hero that has died. - @VinceSchilling” – Indian Country Today Jul 2, 2021 Full Review The Conjuring: The Devil Made Me Do It (2021) 56% 7.4/10 “A truly great horror film with jump scares and creepy content galore, but it's a bit like "The Exorcist" if combined with "The Walking Dead," thus some horror got left a bit behind.” – Indian Country Today Jun 8, 2021 Full Review Wrath of Man (2021) 68% 8.9/10 “Simply put, Jason Statham doing what he does best. But interestingly, the movie paves a way for an intriguing Jason Statham future.” – Indian Country Today Jun 8, 2021 Full Review Unhinged (2020) 49% 8.9/10 “Whoa, this was a lot more and intense than I had expected it to be. This is definitely one of Russell Crowe's most nerve-wracking and anxiety-inducing performances” – Indian Country Today May 26, 2021 Full Review
