Marcela (Leandra Leal) has lived with her possessive father, Jose (Lima Duarte), a lighthouse keeper, on a remote island since she was 5 years old. Their only regular companion is Daniel (Fernando Torres), a kindly old man who teaches Marcela how to read. Now 13 and going through her first period, Marcela longs to visit the mainland town. When Jose refuses to let her leave for a few days, Marcela begins imagining that the wind itself is her lover.
