[img]http://images.chrc4work.com/images/user/smilies/biggrin.gif[/img] For an independent little horror flick I thought that giving this one a go would at least garner me some classic cheap horror thrills. Not sure what I was thinking. [/size][/font] [font=Century Gothic][size=3]Hood of the Living Dead is a cheaply done zombie flick by the Quiroz Brothers. The Quiroz Brothers are trying to make a name for themselves in the film world. However cheap movies have their charm to them. And what makes a movie great really isn’t it’s budget but the acting. Well this movie had none of either. The budget was next to nil and the acting truly stunk. [/size][/font] [font=Century Gothic][size=3]Hood truly sounded like a good idea. Hood is about two brothers; Ricky and Jermaine who are fighting with each other over authority. Ricky is the oldest and their parents have recently died leaving him in charge of his younger brother Jermaine. Ricky is a lab tech/scientist at a lab. Ricky and his co-worker Scott are working on a “regeneration formula” In an order to get a better life for him and his brother, Ricky is planning on moving out of Oakland into the “burbs”. Jermaine gets ready to go out with his friends and no sooner than he walks out the door he’s killed by a planned drive by. Here enters the untested “regeneration formula”. Ricky & Scott try the formula on Jermaine with no success. Little to their surprise the formula did work on Jermaine but with a slight side effect, it turned him into a flesh-eating zombie whose fist meal is the Paramedic and Coroner that are taking him to the morgue. Then he tracks down the gang bangers that shoot him. Ricky and Jermaines friends go on the hunt to find him and anyone else that he has infected. [/size][/font] [font=Century Gothic][size=3]All in all this was a pretty dull and boring watch. It took a good 30 mins to truly get into the story. I found myself bored watching this one. The only thing that was decent about this film was that the dialogue was pretty darn authentic for gang members. The story could have been stronger had the budget been bigger but sadly this movie was a very painful waste of time to watch. Ever. Great if you are like me. We have "Shitty Movie Tuesdays" at my house. This was a perfect candidate. Billed as a Hip-Hop zombie flick, but there's no hip-hop throughout the film. There was one song at the beginning, and that was it. However, there was a LOT of F*** words. In fact, at one point, thought i'd be fun to have a drinking game to that, but soon realized that I'd be drunk within the first five minutes of the film. This movie is definitely not memorable.
