Nicolai S Movie was good overall. Some performances were not convincing enough where others were really good and that does not help with immersion as sudden drops in acting are quite noticeable. There were ample plot holes, like they had to cut pivotal points in character background and build up. The finale was emotional, but had needless scenes that ate up the time they could have used for more engaging scenes. The plot was very linear but still kept pace untill the end. The bad portrayal of power dynamic in soviet Bulgaria was immersion breaking. For the audience that knows how impossible the plot is, it makes for a bland setting. I personally would have liked the graphic nature of the film to have been more true to the time period (aka a bit more grim dark and not so full of hope). All in all, worth the watch, but still ways off of making a massive impact on the audience.
