Solid fight scenes does not improve the overall story. It's very cliched, and it begins to fall apart at the end when not enough conflict is introduced. Some nice action bits aside, a very low key and basic movie.

great martial arts drama! yen's direction is pliable, his act- ing reliable and his fighting skills phenomenal! though it's like 2 stories with romance holding both. also, can be hea- vy-handed/brutal. otherwise, i enjoyed it immensely. (=
