Paul S This movie is so entertaining! The aesthetic and the story were so beautifully crafted that I never wanted this movie to end. I definitely recommend it for comedy fans! Rated 5/5 Stars •  Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/22/25 Full Review Tony S It's been a couple of days now since I watched this film, but it's definitely gotten me in the mood to watch Wes Anderson's new film, and it also makes me appreciate why so many people love this film. Now, I've got a feeling that part of the reason this didn't set me alight was purely down to the fact that I was tired while watching this film and I did struggle to stay awake, however that had more to do with having done 9 days straight at work, as opposed to the film itself. I really enjoyed both the audio and visual gags in the film, and one that sticks with me is the moment at the start where Misure Jean, instead of opening the bar flap; decided to duck underneath the counter and then run towards the patron who was suffering. This made me audibly laugh and is something that will stick with me forever. I also really enjoyed the use of forced perspective and alternative perspectives. It helped to give the film a completely different vibe to anything I've seen recently and really helped to keep the focus on the story itself as opposed to flashy visuals. Although, I'd argue they were flashy in their own unique way. Definitely worth a watch and who knows... maybe one day I'll re-watch it when I'm not trying to keep my head up as I'm sitting in the cinema like a nodding dog! Oh and for the avoidance of doubt, yes my local cinema was re-showing Wes Anderson's films in the run up to the release of the Phoenecian Sceheme which I can't wait for. The stop-motion bits are hilarious and the plot is so absurd it is hilarious. I didn't much like the unnecessary epilogue though. Incredible journey through a weird and wonderful story, fascinating all the way. Quirky and sophisticated at the same time. Unique in so many ways, the cinematography is something else.
