Virgo V Some say War and Peace, Part IV: Pierre Bezukhov (1967) is a well-made film with many positive aspects, including: Artistic vision: The film's director, Sergei Bondarchuk, uses artistic vision to justify the production, such as in the shots of Napoleon and the Russian landscape. Ending: The film wraps up things in a satisfying way, capturing the feeling of homecoming after a war. Scale: The film is huge in scale and demands respect. Academy Award: The film won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film in 1969, the first Soviet film to do so. Emotional chaos: The film depicts the emotional chaos and confusion of Tolstoy's Russia. Rated 4.5/5 Stars •  Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/03/25 Full Review s r I finally got through this four part epic that was so huge in scale that it demands to be respected. The ending was a little off and the melodrama a little thick, but it still is a well made movie that this side shows the hardships endured by the Russians having Moscow burned and then the suffering of the French during the winter.
