Cmdr. Mike Halstead (Tony Russel) receives orders from United Democracies Space Command to babysit crass scientist Nurmi (Massimo Serato) aboard the spaceship Gamma One. Mike finds Nurmi's genetic experiments loathsome and resents the scientist's effort to woo the ship's judo instructor, Lt. Connie Gomez (Lisa Gastoni). Summoned to Earth to explain a string of disappearances, Mike's glad to get away, realizing too late that Nurmi is behind the crimes and that he has kidnapped Connie.

The Wild, Wild Planet is about as bad as it gets when it comes to crappy movies. It's a nonsensical science fiction mess set in 2015 that involves space travel, kidnapping, genetic engineering and a few other points that are just not worth mentioning in any detail, including human shrinkage. The special effects, mostly done through fake looking miniatures, are brutal, the dialogue is brutal, the acting is brutal and the plot is brutal, as well as incomprehensible and absurd. It's not even remotely good in a bad sort of way. It's just brutal, from start to finish.

I had more fun watching this little b-flik than I have had watching a movie in a while. granted, I was open minded going in and had my expectations sidelined. But it was exactly what I wanted and it delivered!

Pretty terrible low-budget Italian sci-fi film has future star Franco Nero in a small role, but the story is mainly about a mad scientist who kidnaps important leaders and shrinks them down to keep them in a state of suspended animation inside a cigarette case-size container. The film does have a European swingin' 60s Barbarella vibe to it which is fun, as are the terrible special effect, which do make the film somewhat enjoyable on a so-bad-it's-good level of camp entertainment, but generally speaking, it's an awful film.

It took me forever to find this movie here on Rotten Tomatoes, little did I know it was an Italian film. This was a decent film, not the best though.

Synopsis
