Based on the best-selling novel by Margaret Atwood, this series is set in Gilead, a totalitarian society in what used to be part of the United States. Gilead is ruled by a fundamentalist regime that treats women as property of the state, and is faced with environmental disasters and a plummeting birth rate. In a desperate attempt to repopulate a devastated world, the few remaining fertile women are forced into sexual servitude. One of these women, Offred, is determined to survive the terrifying world she lives in, and find the daughter that was taken from her.

Just hang up a poster of Elisabeth moss’ face and listen to on the nose music and revenge and freedom. It’s the same. During past seasons I was emotionally invested. In this one, characters make choices seemingly for convenience. Things they’d normally never do, suddenly they 180. Brazen disregard for prior seasons and character developments. Why would Gilead simply drop off Janine? And why did Naomi just drop off Angela? Why is aunt Lidia alive? And she’s just talked into betraying Gilead after a (yet another) eight minute June monologue? Why is Nick suddenly an absolute douchebag after years of having a crisis of conscience? His comments on the plane are ridiculous. Luke is suddenly a warrior after years of being a flower? Elisabeth moss is a great actress but I don’t want to stare at her expressions for an hour and a half. It would’ve been nice to see the other characters and different points of view.
