Biography:

I'm a British-born Chinese female film writer based in London. I currently write for VODzilla, Film Stories Magazine, Den of Geek and Flickfeast, for which I am also the Festivals editor. I want to raise awareness about Asian representation in not only mainstream media, but also film criticism, showing that diversity is the way forward in the entertainment industry.

Freaky Tales (2024) 74% 3/5 “Patchy in places but looks poised to become a fan favourite, packed with OTT gore, high energy, fun vibes and cinematic dose of chaos.” – Movie Marker Apr 18, 2025 Full Review Sinners (2025) 98% 5/5 “The combination of engaging characters, wonderful music and creative direction marks Sinners as a firm favourite of 2025 – and sees Coogler at the top of his game.” – Flick Feast Apr 18, 2025 Full Review Warfare (2025) 93% 3/5 “A gritty, visceral and intricate thriller that is as brave as it is brutal. Warfare is understatedly simple yet it is hard to look away - and don’t bother covering your ears, its impact needs to be seen as well as heard.” – Flick Feast Apr 17, 2025 Full Review The Amateur (2025) 61% 3/5 “The Amateur resembles a modern spy film that plays on one’s cunning rather than one’s punch...despite Malek’s performance and a promising narrative, the erratic pacing and character development compromise its intensity, resulting in a lacklustre thriller.” – Movie Marker Apr 9, 2025 Full Review The Alto Knights (2025) 40% 1/5 “Levinson’s poor direction and the film’s general lack of cohesion wastes the narrative's potential while de Niro fails to captivate in either one of his two performances.” – Flick Feast Mar 23, 2025 Full Review The Wedding Banquet (2025) 88% 5/5 “Blending laughs and tenderness, it is a heartwarming romantic comedy that shows relationships in all kinds of forms – and the abundance of love they have to offer.” – Movie Marker Mar 23, 2025 Full Review Disney's Snow White (2025) 40% 2/5 “now White tries to achieve a lot but while the leading ladies try to represent strong female characters, the film's creative objectives do not complement each other cohesively, marking another miss among Disney's live-action adaptations.” – Flick Feast Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Slanted (2025) 82% 4/5 “Slanted is one of those rare teen films that dares to explore how internalised racism can affect people of colour, culminating in heartbreak and horror.” – POC Culture Mar 20, 2025 Full Review Ne Zha 2 (2025) 96% 4/5 “Its kid-friendly laughs and dazzling visuals are a step up from what audiences are used to from Hollywood. An animated film destined for the biggest screens available, Ne Zha 2 is a breathtaking feast for the eyes.” – Flick Feast Mar 15, 2025 Full Review Mickey 17 (2025) 77% 4/5 “In Mickey 17, Bong truly delivers a spectacle that is as deep as it is funny. With Pattinson being the best he has ever been, this sci-fi black comedy will linger on the mind long after the credits roll.” – Flick Feast Mar 5, 2025 Full Review Superboys of Malegaon (2024) 88% 3/5 “Subtly wholesome and full of beautiful shots, Superboys of Malegaon is a grounded ode to independent Indian cinema and the craft of filmmaking.” – Flick Feast Mar 2, 2025 Full Review Captain America: Brave New World (2025) 48% 2/5 “Brave New World has its eyes set high in the skies but it ends up doubting itself by revisiting ghosts of the MCU. The result is a lacklustre instalment that fails to pull the universe out of its funk.” – Flick Feast Feb 14, 2025 Full Review Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy (2025) 88% 3/5 “Helen Fielding’s creation may be 30 years old but Bridget Jones has consistently struck in the hearts of millennials...Mad About the Boy‘s noticeable reliance on old jokes and quips is outshone by its heart and newfound maturity.” – Flick Feast Feb 12, 2025 Full Review Cottontail (2023) 85% 2/5 “Dickinson's foray into narrative feature filmmaking sees him handle quite heavy emotive elements buoyed by Franky's tender performance yet the film doesn't feel as impactful as it can be.” – Flick Feast Feb 10, 2025 Full Review I'm Still Here (2024) 97% 3/5 “ Salles delivers a tender, hope-filled narrative that, despite their lifelong plight, never forgets the Paivas’ collective strength with a fabulous Torres as its anchor.” – Flick Feast Jan 22, 2025 Full Review July Rhapsody (2002) 93% 3/5 “Hui's July Rhapsody subtly balances beauty and heart through its visuals and cast performances, gently playing on one's perspective of choosing love over duty, whether it is as a parent, teacher or partner.” – Flick Feast Jan 20, 2025 Full Review Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai du Commerce, 1080 Bruxelles (1975) 95% 3/5 “Jeanne Dielman serves a stylish ode to the life of a modern woman...its impact lingers due to Seyrig’s controlled performance and the intricacy of the minute details that turn the ordinary into something compelling.” – Flick Feast Jan 19, 2025 Full Review Saturday Night (2024) 78% 3/5 “It runs rings the audience due to its confusing narrative but the cast and visuals keep the film on track and viewers on their toes.” – Flick Feast Jan 1, 2025 Full Review Nosferatu (2024) 84% 4/5 “Nosferatu feels like Eggers' dream project - and he ultimately delivers on the promise of an incredibly chilling gothic horror.
