Pales in comparison to the original film. Bad actresses, bad plastic surgery.

Loved it!! Loved the cast!! Loved the friendships! Loved the humor and playfulness so as to be light. If you take it too serious you missed the tenderness and beauty. And the heart felt love.

Horrible remake of the classic 1939 George Cukor bitchfest has none of the style and the panache of the original...In fact it's an embarrassment. Overall: 👎 Definitely NOT Recommended

Terrible acting from some great actresses. Could not finish this it was so bad.

Remake invecchiato malissimo, che dopo nemmeno 15 anni sembra un insulto alla lotta per l'emancipazione femminile e per la parità dei sessi. Una serie di donne, nelle posizioni sociali più diverse tra di loro, vengono raccontate con una banalità disarmante, talmente evidente da risultare quasi una caricatura di tutti i luoghi comuni sul genere femminile. Tutto "perfettamente" riassunto nella sequenza del parto, irritante e sgradevole. A nulla serve il messaggio di un film totalmente al femminile, se a mancare sono i contenuti.

Some one liners in the script are very, very funny and the actors are likeable . The problem is, the women they are playing are highly privileged, out of touch, fluffy rich women who look on working class women as "shanks". Self-centred snobs. I watched this with my 90 year old mother and she was ready to bail before I was, so it's not a generational thing. After 20 minutes, neither of us gave a hoot what was going on in their well manicured, shallow lives - so we switched off.

Absolute total rubbish. Great cast must have thought they'd died and gone to hell in this complete garbage of a movie

I did not know this was a remake so I cannot compare. I watched this movie excited to see a 100% female cast, not a single man To be seen anywhere! However the men did not need to be seen in this film to still dominate the plot. Every cliche is here the ‘friends' are all cliches you'll see in any ‘rom-com / chick-flick' the house wife, the sassy business woman, the earth mother, the token black friend/lesbian (two in one there, well done!🙄) tEven the mistress is a cliche. There is no depth, no insight, no real female empowerment. Such a missed opportunity to really show women in a powerful way. An amazing cast left floundering in the lazy and lacklustre script. I could write more but I'm just mystified as why they bothered with this film and what the actual message was supposed to be.

Did not know it was a re-make, but I was almost half way through before the penny dropped, and I realised that, although men were an important part of the storyline, there had not been a single male actor in shot. Stunningly well done.

First I want to say, interesting how all the main and harsh critics are men... Nevertheless, I love this movie. I haven't seen the original, but it seems all of you were expecting to see the same movie. However, I guess lax chick flicks like this don't get the highest ratings ever. If you're looking for an Oscar nom or a 1930's remake, this isn't for you. If you're looking for a film about real successful women and situations for a chill night, I recommend this!

Absolute crap. Phenomenal talent, completely wasted.

It's watchable, but it's pretty bad. Say you had a group of g/f's over, you could watch it b/c it doesn't really matter if you pay attention, the plot kinda wonky, it's more of a glossy commercial for hair pieces, houses and clothes than anything else.

Amusing. Entertaining. Lovely cast of strong women.

For having all women in the film, women writing and directing this piece, you'd think they wouldn't validly write women in such broad cliche strokes. Totally meaningless.

In the beginning it looks like it's gonna be a talk talk talk movie , it was a bit but when comes out that Mary's husband sheet her with Crystal the story went a bit better . Anette Bening was a terrible caracter in this one !!! SOMDVD

I really enjoyed the relationships and friendships that were developed and followed throughout the movie.

This was an okay film, with good characters. I struggle thru one hour of the movie, after I understood it. This had some of the good looking ladies. Sometimes I thought they over acted in the film, but at the end it ended with an interesting point to understand. So for this being an okay film and mostly the whole point is told to a women and its reffer to a women, I give "The Women" a C.

Even though I haven't seen the original, I don't think this remake is deserving of all its bad reviews. The women ARE types, but they represent all the different complexities of women, for better or worse: the woman who tries to be everything (Mary), the woman who IS everything until she isn't (Sylvie), the woman who knows everything and shares it (Tanya), the woman who knows everything and hides it (Edie and Catherine), the woman who observes everything and just laughs (Alex), and the woman who wants everything just because (Crystal). That last motivation for the ostensible villain is admittedly weak, but the rest of the movie isn't so much rah-rah woman-power, but just woman-life without posturing, cattiness, or easy choices.

I really like this movie & I love the cast. There's nothing spectacular about it though aside from fact that there isn't a single man in it but it is a good fluff type/cute chick flick.

I love the original version better than this updated one, but I still liked it. The cast, Like the original, is entirely comprised of only women, but what an All-star cast !!! Meg Ryan, Annette Benning, Jada Pinkett-Smith, Debra Messing, Eva Mendes, Better Midler, Candice Bergen... wow! Watch it with the BFF and pinky swear to be better friends. Thanks for reading. Enjoy!
