The Unborn Reviews
Filme bom com ótimos sustos e com personagens que a gente se importa.
started with jumpscare ended on the same note
The movie was a very exciting adventure from start to finish
Still a favorite of mine. Creepy, original, and cool effects for the time
15 years later and I actually still like this Believe it or not it's genuinely creepy with an appealing leading lady from David S. Goyer and producer Michael Bay It stays Odette Yustman playing a teenage girl named Casey Beldon She gets the feeling something is watching her from behind the shadows and in her nightmares Her friend Romi notices one of her eyes is distorted, it's actually a result of her being a twin but she finds out she had a younger brother that died in utero Casey's mother also lost her mind and killed herself She discovers this supernatural evil might've have something to do with it as she's being haunted by someone who was never even born Now this evil takes the shape of a young boy using her body as a conduit to come back to life and erase her from the picture The usual PG-13 horror stuff is expected from hallucinations to freaky images to the lead questioning their sanity When it gets to discussing the history of the holocaust it actually starts to get interesting This still has a few interesting ideas juggling demonic possession, Jewish mythology, rituals, mysticism This is was my first introduction to Odette Yustman and she does a good job next to Megan Goode It's refreshing to see Cam Gigandet play a decent guy for a change too Gary Oldman is in a serviceable role but he is one of the highlights when it comes to the exorcism portions Yes the jumps scares are typical and we've seen stuff like this before especially the investigation Yustman is the real appeal here being she has to come to terms with a horror that's plaguing not just her but her whole family lineage It's very disposable horror for sure but nothing horrendous
I think this film was meant to be scary, but my sister and I couldn't stop laughing. We still laugh about it in 2023.
Truly awful. Cheap effects, not scary, annoying characters, bad script , lame story. It seemed like the entire point was to show this girl in her underwear a lot to keep people interested. Just really, really bad overall.
The story made sense, the acting was decent, and I wasn't scared with anything this movie provided.
simplesmente divertido.
una historia de trama original, siendo no muy exigentes es una pelicula que da lo que promete mucho suspenso y drama pero hasta alli
A cynical, empty bore. The unborn didn't try to do anything that hadn't been done before and didn't even try to put its own twist on things to help it stand out. Expect to find loads of predictable jump scares and creepy children to fill the running time along with supporting characters that know way too much about the plot than is reasonably acceptable. The cast did what they could with the material provided and It wasn't "terrible" (there were multiple "horror" movies released in 2009 that were way worse), but if we don't start demanding more from our horror films, then we will never get better than "average at best" content.
effective horror film with a strong twist on the exorcism film and a great cast.
Predictively, boring, a lot of stuff stollen from other movies. No argument, no script, I was mad at the middle of it and could take it anymore.
I remember liking this film when I was younger, but upon rewatching it I can't fathom why. It's so stupid and boring.
So wow bad acting. Jane Alexander was the only decent acting and she had minimal time in the movie. I found there to be a pretty creepy part.....when there was only 30 minutes left of an hour and a half movie. This wasn't worth the time for sure. Main character is the worst and just can't seem to make her role believable. I mean watch the last 33 minutes if you want the scary part. Otherwise- take this off your list. 1/5⭐️
Despite the draw of having Gary Oldman and Idris Elba, this is a rather pedestrian, forgettable possession flick.
A pretty terrible horror film that only looks good and that's it. Goyer, I'm disappointed
