Gary Arnold Washington Post Electric Dreams is too lightweight and, in the last analysis, inane to take the sinister attributes beyond comic bounds. Apr 30, 2018 Full Review Lawrence Kirkbride Los Angeles Times This is a lighthearted romantic comedy that has its moments, both humorous and thought-provoking. Apr 1, 2014 Full Review Liz Moody Empire Magazine Dated of course, being typically 80s, but maintains a certain charm. Rated: 3/5 May 28, 2009 Full Review Grant Watson Fiction Machine It is fair to describe Electric Dreams as rather mediocre, and it is difficult to imagine anybody coming to the film today finding it to be anything beyond a historical artefact. Rated: 5/10 Jan 9, 2025 Full Review Eddie Harrison film-authority.com …a deeply silly film that somehow accurately predicts that technology might get in the way of our ability to socially interface in person… Rated: 3/5 Jul 7, 2023 Full Review Alan Jones Starburst It really does resemble three minute rock videos strung together in the hope of coming across as narrative. sunny d Absolute cinema. Beautiful. Made me cry a bit. Please watch. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/13/25 Full Review Cindy C It's cute, I like the music, innocent 80's style, makes me feel happy. I love the actors. I remember when I saw this at 20 year old, 40 years ago, I cried for the computer at the end. Of course, I went on to find out that I love Giorgio Moroder's music, both before I had ever heard of him, and since. It might not be realistic at all, but I don't care a bit about that. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/09/25 Full Review Zephyr l If you go into this movie not expecting anything too serious and just have a fun time with it, you'll likely enjoy it! It has some great songs in it, fun characters, and some good laughs. Edgar's voice and personality are very enjoyable as well. The critics are just taking this too seriously and need to seriously lighten up. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/26/25 Full Review Felipe M This is one of my most cherished movies of the 80s, heart felt, funny, Boy George songs are beautiful in it, ahead of its time when it comes to the idea of AI. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review nick s The movie really didn't have a lot of story. It felt like a vehicle to string together a bunch of music videos. Bit of a shame because the title track song is great, the characters are charming and the tech feels mighty nostalgic. I remember those little electronic diaries that separated the corporate high fliers from the novices. So I really wanted to like this movie. I didn't mind the champagne + data dump = sentient being silliness because it was an 80s fantasy. But overall there was just not enough compelling drama and I was thoroughly bored after an hour. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/11/25 Full Review Andy Z I love how everyone is such a great critic and how they take themselves so seriously to the point that they fail to enjoy such a nice, light-hearted movie that exudes '80s and simplicity.
