The Score Reviews
The "normal" setup, nothing too surprising. Some not too realistic events, enjoy it.
While the subject matter is not exactly new, it is well reinvented and that is thanks to the cast and a concise script; not to mention the last 40 minutes which are what give the film its vitality. Just the thing for a weekend afternoon.
This was a lot of fun. It's one of the best heist movies. Anything with Robert De Niro and Marlon Brando is always a joy to watch. Seeing two of the greatest actors of all time was like watching The Godfather talking to his younger self.
Great concept & acting seeing Deniro is always classic
The acting is brilliant in this film, especially on the part of Edward Norton. It was a pleasure to see Marlon Brando in what would be his final screen appearance. Seeing the Academy Award winning actors, Brando and Robert De Niro, share the screen was quite a treat. The two screen legends won those awards playing the same character, Vito Corleone, in The Godfather and The Godfather Part II respectively. I really like this movie and think it's a good film, not a great one. It is entertaining and has great acting, as I mentioned before. I definitely recommend it. 80/100
Great cast, good story, awesome setting at a jazz club in Montreal.
I bought the DVD for just less than $3 at the thrift store. I had to. Robert De Niro, Ed Norton, Angela Bassett, Marlon Brando, and Frank Oz. What movie fan wouldn't take a chance on this movie? Unfortunately, it didn't live up to my imagination. It is a decent, straightforward heist movie. I don't remember laughing during the movie, and there was only one point where I wondered why a character made a choice. The final twist was predictable, although it was nicely foreshadowed. This isn't a bad movie. I wouldn't refuse to watch it again, though I also wouldn't go out of my way for the opportunity.
A little slow sometimes, but it stays interesting enough. The ending was fine.
This movie is a masterpiece! Edge of your seat, blood pumping heist classic.. One of DeNiro's best. Great Ending!!
Norton and Deniro are pulling a big heist - and it has the twists you might expect. Still a good crime caper with a great cast.
IT GETS 50% FROM ME, NEVER LIKED DE-NERO BUT DID LIKE BRANDO BUT NOT IN THIS, OLD PEOPLE MAKING OLD PEOPLE FILMS, DE-NERO HAS NOT MADE ANYTHING OF NOTE SINCE TAXI DRIVER IMO, HE IS THE MOST OVERRATED ACTOR IN HOLLYWOOD, HE COULD NOT TIE THE LIKES OF CHARLES LAWTON'S SHOE LACES, HIS OFF SCREEN ANTICS ARE EVEN WORSE THAN HIS ONSCREEN DISASTERS, THE PLOT TO THIS FILM IS THIN AND FLIMSY, ITS HARDLY A HITCHCOCK THRILLER, ITS JUST SOME OLD OVER THE HILL ACTORS BEING MASSIVLY OVERPAID FOR A FILM THAT NOT MANY YEARS BACK WOULD NEVER HAVE SEEN A GERAL RELEASE, IT WOULD HAVE BEEN $1 BIN FILM AT THE PETROL STATION OR 8 TILL LATE, ITS WOEFULLY DIRECTED, THE SCRIPT IS TERRIBLE AND THE ANNOYING PORTRAYAL OF SOMEONE WITH LEARNING DIFFICULTIES BY NORTON IS UNWATCHABLE AND YOU NEED TO TURN THE VOLUME DOWN TO 1 OR 2 WHEN HE IS SPEAKING, WATCH ANY FILM FROM THE 1940S AND IT WILL BE BETTER,
The end of Brando's acting career was marked by this questionable thriller. Though filmed in 2001, it has a real unpolished, tacky 90s feel to it. With this cast you might expect more. De Niro is pretty sound and Norton half reprises his Primal Fear role. Not great, very standard, fairly predictable but will pass as a cheap, simple, instantly forgettable thriller for a couple of hours.
It's my second watching this motion picture, The Score, 2001...with one of my favourite actors, Robert De Niro as well as Marlon Brando, his final film role...with other strong castings, Edward Norton, Angela Bassett...
4 stars: Heist movies have been a staple of the crime films forever. They seem to follow the same plot. The Score does that with a few extra technical details thrown in, along with an excellent performance by a young Edward Norton. It also featured the only time at Marlon Brando and Robert De Niro appeared in a movie together. Following the standard heist Move the plot line, was a shut up t o fool the audience into a Clever ending.. I know you've seen this movie with all it's plot twists andturns, but this 20 yr Oldsmobile blazed the trail. Recommended for its well thought out and exciting presentation.
There's nothing that memorable about this movie but it's definitely fun to watch. It is tightly directed and well acted; the clichéd script is what ultimately holds it back from being great. I hate to say anything negative though -- just enjoy the dream team of Brando, De Niro and Norton.
A good end to the great Marlon Brando career.
Indescribable in some ways, this has an easy feel, great acting, slow burn. De Niro seems effortless in his character as a high end, intelligent thief, Norton works his character into its full potential....and what can be said about Mr. Brando...always a pleasure to watch. Sit back on a Sunday afternoon with nothing to disturb you, you'll wish you had a similar movie when its over. :-)
A unique take on the genre This Action is a decent little underrated gem
