Trapped Reviews
With great performances from stellar casts, it may be one of underrated thriller of early 2000's.
We thought it was good. Opened for a trapped 2!
I don't understand the low score. 🤔🤔 Great cast & terrific movie!!
An excellent thriller with a great cast.
I personally found this movie to be quite decent, and I'm surprised by the negative reactions it has garnered. Despite the unsettling premise of child abduction, I believe the film was well-crafted and succeeded in keeping viewers engaged through suspenseful storytelling that sheds light on real-life dangers. The performances by Charlize Theron, Dakota Fanning, Courtney Love, Kevin Bacon, and Stuart Townsend were noteworthy, adding depth and authenticity to the narrative. Each actor brought a unique energy to their role, contributing to the overall impact of the film. It's unfortunate that the film has faced criticism from both critics and fans, as I found it to be intriguing and enjoyable. While opinions may vary, I didn't perceive it to be as bad as some have portrayed it.
This is the story of a group of kidnappers that become ensnared by a more difficult situation than they are used to. Charles Theron plays the part of the mother of the kidnapped victim very well. She is a really great actress. Kevin Bacon plays the role of the abusive kidnapper very well. Dakota Fanning is good as the kidnap victim. She is a great child actress. Pruitt Taylor Vince is likable as the slow and manipulated kidnapper. The rest of the supporting cast is very good. Despite good acting, the execution just doesn't ever take this movie to a place where it is great. It is smart, and it is based upon a book that I have not read.
This movie loses it's plausibly for me in the first 20 minutes...Mom is able to get the drop on Bacon with a pistol...he warns her killing him kills her daughter ,all well and good... so shoot him in the knee... call your cousin and bring her back.. you have another knee elbows, feet, hands , 30 minutes can be an eternity of pain...call it off and we all walk away
I am really surprised that the ratings on Rotten Tomatoes are only 17% for this movie. I thought it was very good. It was very suspenseful. The hallmark of 17% movies is bad writing, and this had an excellent storyline to it. It was not a tried and worn out plot, but was completely unique. I've never seen another similar movie and I think it deserved a rating of around 70 to 75%. It wasn't the best movie I've ever seen, but I thought it was very good and certainly not down in the dumps the way Rotten Tomatoes ratings have left it. Don't be afraid to watch this movie. It's well done, entertaining, and suspenseful.
I mean you're not missing anything by not watching this movie. Really, it's pretty clichéd and there's a lot of contrive stuff in there: 1. The convenient piloting skills that the husband has that aids him in this exact situation. 2. The fact that the husband also has a miracle drug, that he made, and uses to interrogate his captive. And for some reason he has it in his hotel room. 3. The kidnappers did their homework, but missed the part that the kid has asthma. In this movie it's never confirmed if the kidnappers are lying or not, but they allegedly did this four times and never came across this problem. To movies credit Kevin Bacon's great in this movie, and so is Courtney Love, and the rest of the cast. And it's genuinely the first time that a kid with asthma in a thriller movie actually becomes scary. And also what is with Kevin Bacon being a sexual predator in thriller movies? This movie is supposed to make you feel trapped and very uncomfortable. And it does it's job well when your not being critical. But they at least set up things in this movie and have decent (not great) pay offs for them.
"Trapped" fulfills what it promises, of course it still leaves several loose ends along the way and holes in the script, even so it was a suspense that captivated me.
Kevin Bacon is always great as a villain and him holding a child for ransom made this movie a good thriller.
How did Charlize Theron ended up doing this movie? ... Bad script, bad acting, bad pace... Unwatchable.
Kevin Bacon stars in another tense thriller along side the beautiful Charlize Theron.
It didn't even figure out how to make an intense story feel intense.
It has some good ingredients, but it works with too abused-formulas, and become too much unrealistic at the end.
Trapped is the same old cliche: It offers a good plot, but doesn't do much to make what it has to offer.
A kidnapping that doesn't go very well.
Um I think Kevin Bacon should have been co-star over Courtney Love, whoever that is. Anywho, cool movie.
Rapey and gross child kidnapping exploitation film with a cast that should have known better. Hard to watch in its repellent depiction of vile crap. Hard to care about any character, including the victims. Silly plot that never stops getting more ridiculous. Hard to finish. When you see this on cable and are tempted by the cast, do yourself a favor and keep flipping the channels. *.5/. 18/48
