Mirrors Reviews

Jan 25, 2025

Ultimately a disappointment, the plot is interesting but the delivery lacks impact. Wooden horrors ultimately fail because they fail to connect the viewer with the characters and so it is in this instance. But the film does push you to watch to the end, but even here, the viewer is not taken to the edge of their seat. A processional horror that could have been so much better.

It is a movie that had so many chances to redeem itself, and every single time, it shot itself in the foot. I won't say anything about the cinematography because of its time, but I will say a lot of things about the acting and the plot itself. The acting is bad. That's it. I can't find a better way to describe the atrocity. My grandmother with dementia can do better acting than that(don't come for me, her words not mine). I have never disliked a main character as bad as I did with the one in this movie. Notice how I didn't mention the name. Yes, his name is fortunately forgettable. There's too many plot holes to the point that I came to a reasonable conclusion. This movie was a failed attempt as a satirical horror movie. It's a movie that shouldn't be taken seriously. I spaced out the entity of the movie because I simply could not keep up with its inconsistencies. It won't be fair for me to not give the movie praise for the ending although I predicted far better endings than this one. Why? The ending is a bad way to start a sequel.

This movie is like what a grade school kid would make, with fake looking props and poorly made fake blood. Be sure to watch while stones.

A visually interesting psychological horror that captivates you by bringing ideas of schizophrenia to life in the form of a demon that takes over a nun (represented near the end of the movie) very captivating by its storyline and the idea of a mirror realm being able to alter our own makes it an amazing, worthwhile movie. The ending I'm mixed on but not in a bad way.

I really enjoyed this , a good creepy movie with an excellent story attached. I would give more stars if I could. This is one of those rare gems you can't seem to find much of anymore. Definitely a good movie for a stormy night. Acting was very well done, background superb. Tops marks!!!

Keifer Sutherland stars in an Asian horror remake by horror director Alexandre Aja of 'Hills Have Eyes' (2006) fame Here the story centers on a disgraced cop named Ben He's been trying to put his life back together since he was involved in a shooting that left another officer dead His ex-wife Amy has custody of their two children, Michael and Daisy Ben still lives with his sister since he's been taking pills to cope with the trauma He takes a new job working as a night guard at an abandoned hotel where the previous employee died under mysterious circumstances It isn't long until Ben finds out an evil malevolent presence is inhabiting the mirrors inside They are trying to find a way into our world while also making victims do things against their will (their reflections take a will of their own) Ben starts to investigate the mystery of the evil perhaps finding the key to stop it once and for all This was my first introduction to Paula Patton and a very young Cameron Boyce The film delivers on the gore Aja is known for for something out of his comfort zone with an intriguing premise One scene in particular involving a jaw ripping apart would make anyone queasy Some good atmosphere is present The twist is truly freaky like something out of a Twilight Zone episode Although it's very slow in the first half Some of the acting is flat and Amy Smart is underutilized plus we've seen a lot of this formula before with a protagonist wondering if he's losing his mind to the supernatural horrors But the ending goes all out with action and scares galore Some script issues could be resolved but Sutherland makes for a passable lead in a story involving the horrors of our own reflection

I Love Mirrors 2008 now I'm a guy that doesn't watch alot of foreign films, cause I hate reading subtitles, so thats why I never seen the original Mirrors cause a that. Anyways Mirror 2008 is a Must See horror supernaturak thriller which features an Excellent performance from Kiefer Sutherland as troubled ex-cop Ben Carson who aims to find a way to protect his family from Mirrors that are controlled by an evil force. 1st of all very Underrated Film, I don't understand why critics hated Mirrors, but this is coming from guy that loves Most a the Saw Films & I mostly disagree critics opinions especially on alot of horror films. I Love Mirrors cause it's well directed by Alexander Aja whose very Underrated director I Love Hills Have Eyes 2006, Piranha 2010, & Horns 2013 those are very good films, Mirrors 2008 offers great suspense, it's pretty bloody at times & premise keeps the story intriguing, Great Cast along with the supporting actors Amy Smart & Paula Patton do a wonderful job as Kiefer's family members in the film, my only flaw is I wish the movie didn't kill of Amy Smart cause I wanted to see more of her performance in the movie cause she's very Beautiful & very Wonderful Actress, go check out the Crank Films she was great in those too, Kiefer steals the show & he does a good job bringing that tough guy persona too many of his films he was Great in Phone Booth, Renegades, Lost Boys, The Vanishing 1993, & Young Guns Films. Mirrors is definitely 1 of my favorite Films of 2008 go see it.

i only came here to give a 1 star review and ask why Kiefer Sutherland WHISPERS all his lines in a gravelly voice no matter what movie he's in and it's SO annoying and to the wife-cover your tits!

Just watched this for the first time after the theatrical release 15 years ago and I'm surprised. Mirrors is a decent horror flick to enjoy on a Friday night. Yes, it falls as the typical 2000's cheesy jump scare film with the dramatic music score on every "scary scene" and the bad CGI, but I really liked the story (a little) and the way they made mirrors more interesting than just reflections (boring right?). I wondered where this movie was going but they did managed to make it fun. Mirrors is nothing special however is watchable, even with a bad title like Mirrors. Loved the gore by the way!

The CGI effects were mostly convincing and not too distracting but it did make it less believable. Generally it looked good with lots of crane shots. Good solid sound with great use of surround and bass. The best bits were in the hospital. The rest was filler. The ending was actually pretty good but I didn't like most of the rest of the movie. It failed to build suspense. Pretty standard horror with occasionally brilliant moments.

Surprisingly slow and not at all scary.

I recently returned to this film and felt its aged quite well. There's something about your reflection being not quite right that works on a subconscious level and sets this film apart from others. They touched on it in The Evil Dead. I enjoyed the film and found it refreshing compared to the other bump in the night bores that were around at the time. The higher audience score in my opinion is a fairer score than the critics gave. Its an alright film. My criticism would be I felt it was a missed opportunity to give it the full silent hill creep out treatment and it fell short and although I enjoyed the twist at the end seemed to lack an explanation or a face off with his reflection.

Really quickly falls flat as a horror film but conceptually it also flashes some brilliance. The film's watchability relies on television heavyweight Kiefer Sutherland's commitment.

Most of my review is being a Kiefer Sutherland fan since the 80's...another part of my review is being a horror-movie fan too. Okay, let's get into this. I loved this movie, granted it failed to score with audiences and the box-office. It was nice seeing Kiefer going back into films after spending too long on the small screen. The gruesomeness of this film and the art style is the real winner here. You're not going to see gore after gore, but when the murders start, you have a winner. Kiefer is fantastic (as usual) and gives this film his best. The plot is fairly good, and keeps you in suspense until the bitter end...the ending...I'm not going into details to spoil, but it's a great ending. If you are into horror, give it a watch...a Kiefer fan...watch...looking for a great ghost story, you have it here. It's a film to definitely watch and not pass up.
