Establishing the hijackers as decent and soft, the audience is immediately reassured that none of the hijackers are going to get killed. To make matters worse, the hostages are relegated to anonymous extras, they're never given identities or personalities, making it hard as a viewer to truly invest in them and care about their plight. The result is a painfully dull experience. The real life story is a feat of planning, yet the film skirts around the operational planning and depicts the Israeli high command as bland and unlikeable. Even when the actual raid gets underway, the action is interrupted by a bizarre decision to hand a significant amount of screen time over an otherwise irrelevant dancer amd her theatre performance. Why on earth the writers didnt give her substantial screen time to one of the hostages I have no idea. Only two Israeli soldiers are anything more than extras and neither are particularly fleshed out. Overrall, a disappointingly missed opportunity that doesnt even get all the facts right. Rated 1/5 Stars •  Rated 1 out of 5 stars 10/22/23 Full Review Tatyana V So these people kidnapped over 200 people off a plane, put their lives in jeopardy, civilians who were Jewish, their families including children and Holocaust survivors - and we are supposed to be sympathetic when they are killed in a hail of gunfire?! I mean, I am glad that two German nationals had some ethical struggle kidnapping Jewish people and threatening their lives when some of them still had number tattoos from the camps, but I don't really think this exonerates them. It also bothered me how little time was spent on character development of the kidnapped victims and how much time was spent trying to explain away why these people were ok with hauling women and children into a room in Uganda and prepare to shoot them. I was also offended at the blank statement at the end that 4 Israelis died and 42 Ugandan soldiers died. You don't want to get killed? Don't kidnap people and hold them for ransom.
