Smart, funny, and beautifully crafted Edward Yang's 1994 film "A Confucian Confusion" is an unfortunately underseen entry in the director's filmography. I'm always impressed at Yang's ability to craft utterly beautiful moments out of the most seemingly simple narratives. Stylistically closer to his later films such as 1996 "Mahjong" the film blends the characters' inner struggles with the ones from 90s Taiwanese society perfectly. Highly recommended, especially if you are already familiar with some of the director's other works.
