Documentary filmmaker Liam Le Guillou enters the world of witchcraft: and the occult, searching for an answer to the question "is magic real?" Seeking out some of the world's most powerful dark magic practitioners, Le Guillou will ask the unthinkable -- will they put a Curse on him. Meeting with Witches in California, Voodoo practitioners in New Orleans, Tantrics in India, and even a Satanist Shaman in Mexico, the filmmaker exposes himself to some of the world's darkest magic. On his Journey, Le Guillou meets with psychologists, and scientists studying the real world effects of magic and the power of belief. As the consequences of his request begin to hit home, Le Guillou seeks out help from the very witches that warned him of his actions, forcing him to question the nature of reality in this dangerous, never-before-seen, dark social experiment.

Luke Y. Thompson ill LYTeracy (Substack) I applaud the premise behind this movie more than I do the execution, which perhaps needed a different frontman to agitate whatever dark forces may or may not be out there. Mar 22, 2025 Full Review Josh Bell Crooked Marquee Filmmaker Liam Le Guillou comes off like a cross between Morgan Spurlock and Zak Bagans in this hokey documentary about supposed black magic. Rated: C Mar 18, 2025 Full Review Victoria Alexander FilmsInReview.com As the widespread belief in witchcraft and curses exists, there is enough history to accept it as a real phenomenon. Le Guillou’s travel documentary challenging the subject, brings it into the mainstream. Don’t bring your small children to Rwanda. Kevin M This documentary left me wanting more, which shows what a good story it presented. The adventure you're taken on as an audience member is utterly captivating, slightly scary, and ultimately humbling. I loved seeing this world through Liam's (the director's) experiences and through the thoughtful guides he sought out on his journey. Highly recommend to all who are curious about what is out there beyond current science and what dwells within us. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Magi A The documentary's blend of humor, cultural exploration, and scientific inquiry makes it a unique contribution to the genre. It invites viewers to reflect on their beliefs and perhaps expand their understanding of the world around them. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/29/25 Full Review Heidi G A crazy ride into the dark side of witchcraft and curses. This movie takes you around the world and introduces you to some interesting characters along the way. Keeps you on the edge of your seat, definitely worth a watch! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/28/25 Full Review Justin T "A Cursed Man" is a film that definitely draws you in with an eerie premise, "If I wish for proof of demonic powers, will they manifest?". A narrative that perfectly balances skepticism with an informed portrayal of unorthodox religious practices and paranormal studies. Accepting from the very beginning that any result could be psychosomatic without patronizing the possibility of metaphysical influences. The viewer is allowed unfettered to interpret the findings for themselves. But I will say this, the film definitely lingers in the mind. Make no mistake that An Unknown Compelling Force, whether it be internal or external, affects our lives in very tangible ways. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/28/25 Full Review Troy M Not bad, but the main character personifies everything that is wrong with modern man. He is an atheist, whether he realizes it or not. Only a halfwit would do what he does, ignoring the long-term effect of his actions on his eternal soul. I will not spoil anything, but the mere fact that this individual does not consult with either the Roman Catholic or Greek Orthodox Church at all and simply returns to the same fools again really made me question the authenticity of this film. It's as if he's purposely omitted any organized religious authority with expertise in these areas because he himself does not believe in God. 2 thousand years of documentation (much of it specific to the subject matter), hundreds of millions of followers, and endless scientific facts which can not be explained aren't enough to even earn a cameo for Christianity or even God in general here. Instead he goes 100% in the opposite direction...this is bias. Another one star deduction for a grown man crying over a cat.
