A Man Called Ove Reviews
E lembra muito o desenho “UP: Altas Aventuras”. Vale apena assistir? Com certeza. Nota: 8,5
I put this movie in the dvd player just to check that it worked and was so immediately drawn into it that I spent the rest of the afternoon unexpectedly watching it. Simultaneously dark and heart warming, if such a thing can exist.
A lovely film, so much so I have now purchased it twice. It's a wider story about embracing the world and finding the good people. It warmers my sole.
Absolutely one of my favourite movies, it makes me cry during a few scenes when I rewatch it. I haven't read the book yet but I really really want to! Rolf Lassgård is playing this character unbelievably well along with his younger self Filip Berg. This movie is a roller coaster of romance, comedy and drama and the way its shot is amazing, you all know that one particular scene with the bus. 1000/10 tears
This is better than American remake starring Tom Hanks.
It contains few surprises, however due to Rolf Lassgård's performance the film manages to be moving.
Brilliantly poignant & funny, although a bit morbid.
a grumpy old man complaining in a village is not such a new thing to me. He might be warm on the inside, but that doesn't make the story interesting enough for me. The story doesn't end up anywhere, nor does it have a strong message.
This film is fantastic, I enjoyed the whole film while laughing and crying. Leaving this film felt like when I was a kid that didn't want to say goodbye to my grandma. Note: The very first scene involves suicide.
A brilliantly clever movie
This has to be one of the greatest movies that made me filled with emotions. The movie is filled with scenes that make you question humanity, but also to make you realise that life is filled with much love and joy. A true feel good movie I absolutely loved this and I will watch it several times in the future. 92/100
Simply shot and beautifully acted in a restrained Swedish manner with Ove fulminating on occasion. The story unfolds in three time periods: Ove as a 9 year old boy who watches his father's love for cars and sad for his lost wife, Ove as a young man who tragically loses his wife, loves Saab's and hates Volvo's. Then Ove as an old man, older than his years, bitter and petty taking it out on his very Swedish housing development. Ove meets and is saved from bitterness by a young family moving in across the path. Two daughters fill in for Ove's lost child and the young Persian mother who likewise warms Ove's life. Though a bit of a tear-jerker, the film does not descend into mawkishness or sentimentality. Special plaudits to the cat who fills a small niche in Ove's world. An ambiguous ending does not tell us how Ove passes on to meet his Sonja but that does not matter. Beautifully done.
I loved this move. Funny and poignant.
As grumpy formulas go, this already humbled story is the sweetest, more humane, with appropriate tonal shifts, thanks to Rolf Lassgard's performative personification demonstrating life's rewarding completion and unexpected connections through tough facade. (B+)
Outstanding! Well acted. Sincere. Funny! Watch this not Tom Hanks A Man Called Otto
A brilliant movie teaching us that we can always find new meaning and new joy in life despite the inevitable tragedies and trauma that come along. We keep walking on this life path as the next (unexpected) joy might be around the corner, particularly when we start to open up to the pain in the lives of the people around us. Compassion and gratitude go a very long way in making this life more enjoyable. Brilliant movie. :-)
Really enjoyed this start to finish, thought some of the flashback sequences really dragged the movie slightly. Wonderful leading performance.
I thought this film was quite well done. I have read the novel its based on and I recognised most of what happened from my recollections of the book. Its a bit like a Scandinavian version of Victor Meldrew from the BBC sitcom One Foot In The Grave - Ove is a decent guy who has had a slightly tough past but he comes across as quite snippy and oaf-ish, although he's more likeable than would first appear. It certainly has a sentimental aspect, although it is seemingly quite bleak certainly at the start. As a trigger warning, it does show preparations for suicide attempts, which may upset some, so bare that in mind. I thought the main character was very well portrayed by the actor Rolf Lassgard. It may feature some dark comedy, undoubtedly, but it also felt like quite a re-assuring film and I thought it was well done.
We thought this was a delightful movie. Funny, understated, and very Swedish.
