Critics Consensus

Undeniably slight yet thoroughly charming, A Royal Night Out uses a fascinating historical footnote as a springboard into a fun dramedy diversion.

Roxana Hadadi Chesapeake Family Magazine A Royal Night Out goes the zany romantic-comedy route in its fictional depiction of two British princesses partying with commoners at the end of World War II. Rated: 3/5 Aug 2, 2016 Full Review Steve Davis Austin Chronicle In the end, it's difficult to reconcile the young Elizabeth depicted here with the monarch whose reign spans the longest in British history. The two just don't match up. Rated: 2/5 Dec 10, 2015 Full Review Rex Reed Observer A Royal Night Out is a film of enormous charm, texture and good will, thanks largely to the three leads. Rated: 3/4 Dec 10, 2015 Full Review Ruth Maramis FlixChatter Film Blog A sweet and charming dramedy with a shade of Roman Holiday. Sarah Gadon is terrific as young Elizabeth, able to capture the future queen’s calm countenance and earthy spirit. Rated: 3.5/5 Sep 12, 2022 Full Review James Croot The Post NZ Some may disapprove of seeing our queen portrayed in this sort of "Carry On", but as entertainment, this is a delightful treat that's well worth seeking out. Feb 15, 2022 Full Review Leigh Paatsch Herald Sun (Australia) A movie as silly, charming and utterly disposable as you allow it to be. Rated: 2.5/5 Sep 24, 2021 Full Review Read all reviews

Ashley H A Royal Night Out is a decent film. It is about Princesses Elizabeth and Margaret who are allowed out to join the celebrations on V.E. Day 1945. Sarah Gadon and Bel Powley give good performances. The script is a little slow in places. Julian Jarrold did an alright job directing this movie. I liked this motion picture because of the drama and humor. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 05/04/23 Full Review Audience Member A promising premise, and the movie starts out OK. But then the plot and writing just becomes too trite, too predictable, and too unrealistic. By mid-movie it's like they turned over the writing to a bunch of 7th graders. It'll pass the time like a weak made-for-온라인카지노추천 movie, but that's about it. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member Charming plot, cool music Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/12/23 Full Review tony h Great fun and an absolute joy to behold.. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member It's ok but definitely no match to Roman Holiday. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/08/18 Full Review Audience Member A reasonable period drama. But it's no Roman Holiday Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
