Spleeny Dotson Starburst In the lead role, Yamaguchi is genuinely excellent, nuanced and heartbreakingly earnest (in keeping with the tone of the film). Rated: 3/5 Feb 5, 2025 Full Review J Hurtado ScreenAnarchy Yasuda’s direction is assured but not flashy, and his writing combined with solid performances from Yamaguchi and Fuke make this film a crowd friendly winner that is sure to put smiles on faces as it gathers an audience in the coming months. Aug 27, 2024 Full Review Chris Sawin Bounding Into Comics A Samurai in Time is one of the most heartwarming time-traveling films you'll ever see. Director Junichi Yasuda has crafted a genuine film of kindness, integrity, and purely delightful entertainment. Rated: 5/5 Aug 12, 2024 Full Review Walter Chaw Film Freak Central ...the excellence of the first sword fight, choreographed by Kazuto Seike, reassured me that A Samurai In Time meant business, even if it’s not a fight flick per se... Rated: 3/4 Jul 31, 2024 Full Review Jennie Kermode Eye for Film Two things elevate it. One is Yasuda’s commitment to looking in depth at the culture of the Edo period... The other is seasoned jidaigeki actor Yamaguchi’s wonderfully sensitive and sincere performance. Ashton H I made an account to review this movie. Incredible, I loved everything about this. I went in thinking it was a lighthearted comedy, and came out changed lol - kosaka was an incredible character and he was played fantastically. There were so many details in his stance, his movements, the way he held himself throughout the movie and it blew me away. Also, the lighting and scene setting was FANTASTIC, and I loved the detail of the in-universe actors having worse wigs and more obvious actor-makeup. Tl;Dr - best movie I've seen this year by FAR. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/26/25 Full Review Hiro K In Japan this movie started from one theater like Don’t stop the camera. Same style promotion. Relay on the theater movie lover’s reputation, theater numbers are increasing still now. Time slip story starts from typical time slip comedy , a samurai time slipped in the middle of samurai movie shooting at now and we can laugh at him a lot. His great effort makes him a good samurai movie actor. Not only funny but also clear story of history make audience into serious drama. Whole 2hours , I could enjoy this movie. Katana sword fighting shooting was really cool and scary , best sword fight I ever watched. My English is not good at expressing my excitement about this movie. Hope lots of people watch this and understand what is going on in this movie . At least enjoy excellent sword fight. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/17/24 Full Review hu r He tasted the ubiquitous shortcake for the first time and said, "I didn't realize that ordinary people could eat this. The world has truly become a better place. He cried in tears. He weeps when he learns of the tragic end of the Aizu Clan. These two scenes are very moving.I realized once again that our peaceful and prosperous world exists on the basis of the efforts and sacrifices of people in the past, and I was grateful. I was amazed at the acting, which really seemed to have added weight after trial and error on how to swing it in order to make it look as if the bamboo light was swinging the main body. No, no, wait, wait. The serious scenes in this film must have been performed with a takemitsu.(Like the climax scene with Kazami). The climax fight scene. The long silent period at the beginning of the fight scene succeeded in maximizing the tension created by the use of the serious weapons. Kyoichiro Kazami, a big-name actor who had quit period dramas and gone to Tokyo, makes a triumphant return to period dramas and Kyoto. In this scene, Kazami overlapped with Hiroyuki Sanada.Hiroyuki Sanada didn't quit period dramas, though.(LOL) It reminded me of "On Summer Film," which was screened in 2021.There are many similarities. Time slip Period drama Films that make movies Low-budget movies Low-budget movies! And what can I say, the "atmosphere" is the same! I left the movie theater with a renewed spirit to live my life with a straight back and gratitude for my surroundings, just like this simple-minded samurai. *With all due respect, I didn't know any of the actors. I like the lead actor, Kazami, and the landlady! I thought Kazami looked like someone, and later I looked up "Tetsuya Bessho," "Tokuma Nishioka," and "Daisuke Shima.I see that you are Norimasa Tomiya.I will check him out from now on! The serious, rugged, and a little dirty leading man is very Samurai-like! I know the locations to Zuishinin Temple and Taishoike Pond in Kameoka.I think most of them are in Kyoto.I want to visit the holy places. → I went to Aburahi-jinja Shrine, which I was told about in this review. It is the setting of the last serious scene. It was not in Kyoto but in Shiga prefecture (bordering Mie prefecture). It was a very nice shrine with no decoration and very good atmosphere! Please visit. The scene where Kazami gets angry and throws a stone into the pond. *The scene where he inevitably takes it or slashes his master was also funny! The pamphlet had not arrived yet.I have to go buy it again. _campaign=share-translation) Rated 5 out of 5 stars 10/20/24 Full Review Read all reviews
