A Secret Love Reviews
This is obviously a total labor of love by film-maker Chris Bolan, documenting the remarkable life of his aunt. But this doc really clicks on many levels as it captures the deeply human and moving story of two great ladies who finally find the courage to "come out" in the very last chapter of their lives... loved it
Extremely cute, if you intend to watch this film, prepare to be emotional. (especially if you are sapphic)
Wish the pushy daughter would leave them alone, sheesh 🙄
One of the most beautiful love stories you can ever have the pleasure to witness and it is a real one
I love this, I don't know how many times I watched it! I love all the two women and their love, hoping Pat keeps healthy!
Beautiful, powerful, sweet, inspired, story of a deep devotion, happiness, loss, and triumph. Musical score is so perfect that it sets tone without being in your face. I love this memoir and the "sausage making" is world class. Editors' art/craft is brilliant. I can not come up with one thing about ‘A Secret Love' that is flawed. Every piece of this movie, it shows, was made with love, wisdom, and the patience it takes to make a documentary of this level. Plus, it's so entertaining! BRAVO!
🏳️🌈 This documentary follows a former baseball player, Terry, and her partner, Pat, who fell in love in 1947 and kept her lesbian relationship a secret from her family for almost seven decades. It is a heartfelt and powerful documentary about conquering love and overcoming prejudice, in which the two old ladies tell the tender story of the sacrifices they made in the name of enduring devotion and commitment. It pulls at your hearstrings since it is so fascinating and inspiring and the ending is just profoundly moving!
Beautiful story of two women who lived their lives in love.
I wish this had been way more about being a female athlete and about Pat & Terry's love story and less about family drama, but I still thought it was a fairly interesting documentary and I cried at the end.
Wow we still have a lot to do in relation with the LGBT community but this documentary show us the progress of this fight.
An honest look at life for gays over the decades and also the trials of aging. "Getting old isn't for sissies."
"A Secret Love" is one of the most heartfelt and romantic documentaries on Netflix. I thought this was a sweet movie that is a good reminder that widespread acceptance is something society has been working towards for a long time. In a way, it is a sad story, but for the most part, I found the movie to be optimistic and very heartwarming. As a documentary, I wouldn't say it is the most interesting or entertaining, but I do admire what the movie stands for. Overall, it's a solid and quick documentary that I was glad ended up on my radar.
Dignified, loving, interesting presentation of a gay couple who encounter chronic illness, frailty and loss of independence.
A lifetime of love. A display of pure commitment and understanding. A remarkable legacy. Nothing but love and respect.
A touching meditation on aging and love.
It's a love story 65 1/2 years in the making, delicately shown and told with respect to all involved.
