Adoration Reviews
Not nearly as searing as a tenured Egoyan viewer would rightfully expect. 'Adoration' is by no means a truly bad or boring film. Its just remarkably pale and is almost on the made-for-television level of writing and directing.
Like so many of Atom Egoyan's other films, Adoration is a complex story filled with complicated themes. Centered around ideas concerning identity, it tells the story of a wildly imaginative high school student who combines his own personal story with that of an article about a thwarted terrorist bombing in the Middle East, leading to unexpected revelations. The story itself if fascinating, Egoyan's direction is, as always, fantastic (the slow tracking shots are great) and Devon Bostick gives a strong performance in the lead role, but the film ultimately falters due to some horrific acting by the remainder of the cast, some awkward dialogue and an often confusing non-linear presentation of scenes.
Had the look & feel of one of those cheesy-made-for-온라인카지노추천 Lifetime movies. Even with the fairly controversial, heavy themes this movie explores I found it pretty insipid.
So Will There Be A Part Two? ..Where The Daughters Of The New Fathers Do A Swap 20-Years Later? Or Is That Too Politically Incorrect?? ...An Interesting, And Moralistic Deplorable Drama All At The Same Time. But Leaves One Feeling Very Jaded About 'Motherly' Love..The Witches Brew A Spinster Doth Create.
An exquisite chronicle about a story that is so intense that the mystery of the characters and the tale itself become captivating for every second of production. Cinematography is deliciously beautiful creating an ambiance that is deeply penetrating for the eye. Actors absorb the passion and bring it out in their human spirit in front of the camera making this a must see film. Nibbles: Cornflakes.
This movie's dvd includes several special features with unusual titles and they are not necessarily very interesting to watch though they are connected to the movie and its premise. Adoration is a unique, interesting, strange film of a boy who does a class presentation in which he reveals that his dad was a terrorist (later we find out that this is an assignment that is fictionalized with the encouragement of the teacher who later proves to be the former wife of his dad). He then goes online and has conversations with people who are under the impression that this story of his is true. In reality, his father and his mother died in a car accident due to inattentiveness by the father; the boy was told by his grandfather that the father had intended to kill his wife. A suspenseful film. 9/10
Small detail here, if this was an assignment for his French Class, why was it in English? F for french A+ for great grand delusion.
An interesting movie about a boy who lost both parents and try to learn about their journey through others point of view.Sometimes the plot is a little confusing and I was lost in translation...
Beautiful, fascinating and well acted film that was profoundly moving. The music was hauntingly lovely.
What is sure to be a great puzzle isn't worth jack if you're missing too many pieces. An otherwise good film is marred by a predictable script and mediocre performances.
This one is pretty convoluted at times even for Egoyan. It's just as well crafted as many of his other films but just doesn't quite measure up. The writing is pretty solid but takes a long time to resolve the sometimes confusing plot. The ending is ultimately not all that satisfying. Some decent performances but not the strength of characters from other Egoyan films. This one misses the mark.
I like Atom Egoyan movies in general, but this one felt a bit too convoluted and the story just didn't hold together.
