David Z Loved the Amish background, a setting right here in the U.S. but unknown to most of us. The type of extremely conservative Amish portrayed (Schwartzentruber) allows a radical distinction to be made between them and another more caring sect which Levi and his family ultimately join. It's a love story, but it's set in real Ohio history to allow viewers actually to learn something as well as to be entertained.
