Critics Consensus

Jennifer Lopez admirably does her best to shoulder Atlas' seismic scope, but this sci-fi spectacle buckles under the weight of a script whose intelligence is merely artificial.

Tim Cogshell FilmWeek (LAist) A narrative -- and much imagery, too -- that's built on much better movies. Jun 14, 2024 Full Review Wenlei Ma The Nightly (AU) It’s like if Marvel made a whole movie with Tony Stark inside his armour just talking to Jarvis, but without any witty repartee. Jun 7, 2024 Full Review Lindsay Press Culturess While Atlas relies on the premise that the movie will not choose a side, even if its title character does, this is still not a film that adds anything new to the AI robot apocalypse genre than what already exists. Mar 18, 2025 Full Review Justin Kim Loud and Clear Reviews Atlas’s unoriginality is laid bare with no other elements to foster immersion, and the end result is a movie that feels lost in the vacuum of space. Miniver S I thought it was fun and visually appealing! Yes, unoriginal and a couple lines of dialogue earn an eye roll, but a good choice for movie night. Keeps you entertained, and the dynamic between Atlas and Smith was super charming. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/08/25 Full Review Chikens a As corny as it was I was very entertained and it made me like jennifer lopez more! She was actually really good. I wonder why she didn't choose acting full time. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/28/25 Full Review Scott H Better than Expected I have certainly seen far, far worse. This is a solid 8 of 10 in my book. There was a decent amount of foundation to the story, great special effects though CGI, lots of action, and pretty thoughtful character development. The plot is more plausible than many other sci-fi films out there. Good enough to say something positive. Tough Crowd It seems people just want to make sensationally cruel or damaging evaluations of Lopez' performance to get attention. Its the Bandwagon Armchair Critics that seem to skew the film's evaluation towards criticism rather than the rating it truly deserves. Fact is if this came out when Star Wars did, it would have been a blockbuster. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/12/25 Full Review Oscar M Excellent movie Sci Fi always gets low ratings Jennifer did an amazing job Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/10/25 Full Review Marek W One of the worst movies I've ever seen. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 04/08/25 Full Review Jeff H It's not a documentary so most of it can be forgiven. I had a great two hours watching it.
