Bad Boys: Ride or Die Reviews

There’s also so little here that’s new. You can see the absence of ambition behind everything the film does.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Jan 16, 2025

The homophobia is toned down, the graphic violence is turned up, and Adil & Bilall prove they’re the heirs apparent to Michael Bay’s brand of controlled chaos.

| Original Score: B- | Nov 18, 2024

A step down from its immediate predecessor but still a step up from the first two installments.

| Original Score: 2.5/4 | Sep 28, 2024

... one thing that can’t be argued is that the films are still fun, carried by the odd couple comedy of the leads and their willingness to acknowledge that these characters aren’t the same now as then.

| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Sep 28, 2024

Bad Boys: Ride or Die contains a lot of exciting action, and the sturdier plot goes a long way towards giving it a decent boost, but some rather inexplicable character developments end up hampering it a little too much.

| Original Score: 3/5 | Sep 24, 2024

They keep making the same mistake that ruins the Bad Boys: squander Smith and Lawrence's chemistry by giving them subpar material. They might expertly bounce off each other, but these aging action heroes are not miracle workers.

Ride or Die is an explosive action-packed spectacle full of crazy stand out violent sequences and a lasting bond of friendship between the world's favorite Bad Boys, Smith & Lawrence are back with their iconic nutty outrageous comedy and nonstop action.

| Original Score: 7/10 | Sep 5, 2024

Ride or Die is overwritten and overdirected to the point of being tiresome. I just felt worn out by it, not in a just-had-an-invigorating-workout kind of way, but in a just-got-groceries-the-day-before-Thanksgiving kind of way.

Adil & Bilall also put us right on the barrel of the gun with a few neat POV shots, but as a whole, Ride Or Die feels chaotic and unsure of itself.

| Original Score: 2/5 | Aug 9, 2024

Ride or Die shows that not only is there still life in this series, but as long as it stars Smith and Lawrence with skilled directors like Adil & Bilall, you could have Lowrey and Burnett wheeling themselves around the old folks’ home and have a blast.

| Aug 8, 2024

Sure, it’s mindless and loud and doesn’t make a lick of sense, but none of these movies do, and so long as it’s executed in ways in which audiences can have as much fun as the cast and crew clearly did while making it, there’s little reason to complain.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Aug 5, 2024

Bilall Fallah and Adil El Arbi have unleashed themselves in a movie that is bigger, crazier, and more adrenaline-fueled than its predecessor, fully taking ownership without holding back and offering a 100% 'Bad Boys' show.

| Original Score: 7/10 | Aug 1, 2024

It seems to me to be nothing more than a mediocre and dull film, from a buddy cop franchise that, luckily, has reached its expiration date. [Full review in Spanish]

Will Smith and Martin Lawerence are the obvious highlights of this film as usual. However, Lawerence turns in what could be his finest turn as Marcus Burnett to date.

| Original Score: 3.5/5 | Jul 25, 2024

It delivers exactly what it wants to deliver.

| Jul 13, 2024

It totally delivers.

| Jul 13, 2024

Yes, it's not going to be easy and there is significant explosive mayhem on the path to redemption. For those willing to come along for the ride, it's a trip worth taking.

| Original Score: B | Jul 12, 2024

While I still can’t condone Smith’s notorious Oscar night shenanigans, I still found a way to enjoy his latest outing, leaving the theater with a bigger smile on my face than I thought would be possible for this project.

| Original Score: B | Jul 12, 2024

Bad Boys: Ride or Die feels like a relic of action cinema past. Take a somewhat predictable storyline, throw in two lovable leads, and then pump all the juice into the action. It plays unbelievably well.

| Original Score: 4/5 | Jul 9, 2024

When you’re done doing what I’m doing – humming the “Bad Boys” song in your head – take a trip to the local cinema and say hello to Lowery and Burnett. You won’t be disappointed.
