I rewatched it recently, and it's absolutely fantastic.

A beautiful story that easily takes either 4th or 5th place on the list of greatest animated movies of all time! 👌🏻

Bambi was the first movie I was allowed to see in the cinema. I was six years old and was completely enchanted by this wonderful masterpiece. I later watched the movie with my own children, and my grandchildren were also allowed to see it. It's a beautiful movie that you simply have to love.

Such a great classic! It’s like an old school The Lion King circle of life stuff.

A gorgeous love letter to nature that isn’t afraid to show its darker side with mankind’s unsettling relationship with wildlife. Admittedly, the first third of the movie pushes my patience with its overly schmaltzy cuteness and the conservation message for deer has unfortunately aged due to their current overpopulation. However, those scenes are still carried by a beautiful art style and arguably if it wasn’t so cutesy, the dark scenes might not have felt so impactful. The choir music is also very pleasant to listen to. While it’s certainly not one of my favorite Disney films, it holds up a lot better than all those countless parodies had me to believe.

Like I say in all my reviews, it all depends on the child. This along with Dumbo, The Aristocats, and Lilo and Stitch were all huge childhood favorites of mine, but I was more logical as a toddler and instead of being sad about this movie, I tried to analyze it. For some kids this movie may be too much. Even for adults it may be too much. Heck, I'm a teen and I can't watch this movie nowadays because I'll just cry my eyes out. It is really a beautiful piece, though. There are people who can handle it and people who can't. Either one is okay. I would recommend trying it out...

Is effing Bambi! (No need say more.)

Another amazing disney film.

As a child, I watched this movie and it was one of the few movies, even to this day, that makes me tear up. The animation quality is simply outstanding for its time. However, despite the sadness, it had its time for daring and joyous adventure as well.

Bambi es una de las películas más memorables de Disney que van más allá de ofrecer una bella animación y personajes queridos. Lo que hace a Bambi especial es que se trata de una película que a la vista dulce bastante infantil, pero detrás de esa imagen yace algo bastante sombrío que la hizo quedar grabada en la memoria de muchas generaciones. Esta película ocupa un puesto al lado de muchas películas animadas con historias hermosas y conmovedoras que han ofrecido momentos trágicos o sombríos que han hecho llorar a los más pequeños. Las películas anteriores de Disney tenían momentos maduros en algunas partes del argumento. Bambi lo ha llevado a otro nivel que luego sería replicado en futuras películas como The Lion King. La película se basó en una novela que tenía un contexto bastante sombrío dado la situación en la que el autor se encontraba. La película endulza e infantiliza la historia como fue de costumbre al momento de adaptar cuentos tradicionales, pero eso la verdad sirvió para fortalecer más el contexto de la novela de una manera más psicológica y no afecto la esencia del material original. La película ofrece una historia corta y sencilla que se podría haber expandido, pero debido a que Disney pasaba por un problema financiero en aquel entonces, la historia tuvo que ser resumida y trataron de narrar lo más esencial. Hay bastante que esta película transmite sin la necesidad de profundizar en lo absoluto. Ya las situaciones de los personajes y las escenas dicen bastante. La historia de Bambi empieza de una manera bastante inocente y dulce donde el joven ciervo empieza a conocer el mundo. Bambi disfruta con alegría las experiencias de la vida, conoce la amistad y también el primer amor. Pero al analizar con profundidad es claro que la historia de Bambi es una historia sobre el ciclo de la vida, ya que trata sobre la infancia y el crecer. La vida no solo puede ofrecer buenos momentos de gozo, sino también duros golpes como la perdida y la tragedia. En su joven inocencia, Bambi experimenta eso y es bien sabido que ningún niño está libre de experimentar una experiencia así de trágica. A pesar de ello, los golpes de la vida a veces se vuelven algo crucial para poder crecer y entender como funciona el mundo. Cuando Bambi está en su etapa adulta, se puede ver finalmente entrando en su momento de adultez que lo hace convertirse en el siguiente gran príncipe. En esos aspectos, la historia es una metáfora sobre la vida. Uno viene al mundo en su estado más puro, disfruta de la vida inocentemente, enfrenta la dura realidad por medio de una tragedia y al final crece llegando a su estado de madurez. Bambi logra narrar bien todo eso y años después The Lion King tomaría ese concepto para darle más desarrollo y profundidad. Ya desde el comienzo es fácil encariñarse con los personajes. Bambi, Thumper y Flower son seres inocentes puros de corazón que reflejan toda esa alegría que un niño experimenta sin tener conocimiento de la cruda realidad. Es curioso que Bambi y Flower tengan un aspecto que se podría considerar femenino, pero eso logra hacer bastante juego con la inocencia que ellos tienen. La pureza de los habitantes del bosque es lo que hace que sea difícil no sentir lástima por ellos cuando son acechados por los hombres. Lo que la película hace es colocar al espectador en el lugar de los animalitos del bosque y poder empatizar con ellos. Aunque los hombres no son vistos en la película como en el libro, se puede sentir su presencia y eso los hace ser más amenazantes. La forma en que los hombres son plasmados en esta película es algo bastante parecido a lo que se haría después en el giallo o en el género slasher. La amenaza que acecha a las víctimas no es vista del todo, pero se puede sentir su presencia. Por más que Bambi sea una película para niños, todo lo mencionado anteriormente hace que esta película tenga todo lo necesario para ser una película para el público más adulto. Si se revisa las escenas con bastante meticulosidad, se pueden notar un par de errores debido a la época en que la película fue producida. Por suerte, este es uno de esos casos donde los errores no afectan la integridad de la película. La animación no deja de ser una buena experiencia visual, el diseño de los personajes es bastante encantador para hacer juego con la inocencia de Bambi y sus amigos, y muchos de los instrumentos en la partitura logran ser un buen sustituto para los efectos de sonido. Bambi logra ser una gran obra maestra por su conmovedora y tierna historia que refleja la vida misma que los humanos experimentan desde su nacimiento hasta la edad adulta. Por lo tanto, esta es una película trascendental que pertenece al catálogo de películas que se vuelven eternas. La historia de Bambi es eterna por su representación sobre la vida y lo muy importante que es para que las siguientes generaciones puedan entender el mundo y enfrentarlo a medida que crezcan. Claro que siendo sinceros, ninguna película animada de Disney está libre de mensajes y enseñanzas útiles para la vida. Mi calificación final para esta película es un 10/10.

It has it's moments. But it also has a lot of old kids film stuff that hasn't aged well, but the last 15 minutes is definitely something that stuck out as a highlight to me. 7/10.

O filme não tem história, apenas tem história nos últimos minutos de filme. Um filme nada infantil, apenas com cenas sem graça

I seriously don't understand how anyone could possibly go deer hunting after watching this movie. In my mind, the death of Bambi's mother remains the single most disturbing event ever portrayed in a Disney animated film. In fact, watching it for the first time in decades this weekend, I spent the first half of the movie with a knot in my stomach counting down the minutes till the fateful event occurred. Actually, the first half of this movie is pretty much perfect - among the best Disney has offered. Unfortunately, the film loses a bit of momentum once Bambi grows up and his hormones start raging. Bambi is a much more interesting character as a wobbly fawn than an antler-yielding buck. Thankfully, a beautiful circle of life ending leaves things on a high note. Overall, it's a beautiful, surprisingly moving film, but just not quite the masterpiece I remembered it being as a child. And what was the first thing I said to myself as THE END flashed across the screen? "Boy, humans suck!"

I haven't watched Bambi since I was a kid and I actually really enjoyed it. It's one of the most beautifully animated Disney movies and has such a charm to it. It's the perfect runtime too, it doesn't drag. It's not one of the more exciting watches but is still a very enjoyable watch. It's a sad yet charming classic that still holds up.

Without a doubt the best cartoon for a child to watch, the nature scenes are so beautiful that they enchant, it is innocent, fun and touching, it talks about the maturation of a newborn deer until adulthood and addresses the tragedy in a delicate way without taking away the innocence of the film.

One scene was too dramatic. Other than that, however, this film is flawless. And the story and visual portrayal of characters are touching, adorable, and/or tragic.
