I generally choose to ignore the critics reviews and form my own opinion. Quite a few reviews saying things like it's unbelievable and not like real life - that's because it's a movie, a work of fiction! I loved the plot even, if it's apparently unbelievable, and the cast. There were some laugh out load moments and some emotional moments, and, of course, a happy ending. I think this is a feel good movie and one on my "watch again" list.

This movie isn't rocket science. It's a sweet romantic (Fairy?) tale about two improbable souls coming together improbably. Most love stories actually are, unless they are contrived and void of chance. That's what makes this film so charming. It's take on innocence and recklessness are stripped down to the bare bones and served without any unnecessary trimmings or side dishes. You sit, You watch and you feel good at the end. What more do you want..?

An almost 10 year old film that should be considered a nostalgic classic... to simply put into the words, Beautiful. Absolutely magnificent. heavily emotional and quite uncomfortable for those who cannot relate to mental health awareness but such a phenomenal twist, ending with the conclusion that individually our circumstances aren't always what they seem.

El principal problema de ‘Barefoot' es que tiene la misma estructura que cientos de películas románticas que hemos visto; como el planteamiento de la pareja, en la que uno no tiene interés por la otra persona, pero a medida que avanza la trama se da cuenta lo similar que pueden ser a pesar de las diferencias establecidas desde un inicio, cuando todo va mejor tienen una discusión que los hace ver una nueva perspectiva de su relación que siempre sucede antes de entrar en el 3 acto, acompañada de guionazos para que el desarrollo inicie y termine de la forma más rápida posible. La película da muchas libertades en la historia, ya sea el cómo los personajes de Jay y Daisy terminan solos, las facilidades con las que vuelan a casa de los padres de Jay, o las mismas a la hora de regresar y de lidiar con sus problemas, todo tiene una resolución rápida. Más allá la trama para mi refleja un viaje emocional hacia la aceptación interna de los personajes, el ser nosotros mismos y así mismo aceptar a los demás. Cosa que se ve más marcada en el personaje de Jay, en su propio desarrollo él tiene una lucha interna con sus propias inseguridades, que intenta cubrir con una apariencia egocéntrica para no lidiar con su verdadera realidad, es un personaje quebrado que a pesar de venir de una familia con dinero su propia familia está decepcionada de él por las decisiones que ha tomado. Mientras que Daisy es un personaje inadaptado que al "salir al mundo", las personas al no entender su perspectiva tienen un actuar en el que automáticamente la cuestionan negativamente. Y para mí eso es lo mejor de la película, la dualidad que hay entre Jay y Daisy, son personas que son automáticamente juzgadas por tener un punto de vista peculiar, que de cierta forma asusta a quiénes los rodean porque también les hacen ver sus inseguridades en su forma de actuar. Pero lamentablemente todo esto está introducido desde una mirada forzada. Ya que se presenta en la cena, donde el mensaje al no ser sutil se vuelve forzada, cómo entro la referencia en la plática. La película visualmente es muy agradable de ver, con planos abiertos en el 2 y 3 acto muy bien realizados en montajes cuando están en el camper, y así mismo sobre todo cuando están "de viaje", Yo creo que lo mejor de la película son las actuaciones, Evan Rachel Wood y Scott Speedman son muy convincentes, sus emociones son genuinas y puedes llegar a empatizar con los personajes. Más allá me parece que la parte técnica es buena, aunque no hay nada destacable todo está bien realizado a secas, todo cumple. No había mucho que hacer en una visión plana en la narrativa de la misma. Barefoot, cuenta lo mismo que ya hemos visto cientos de veces, pero de manera muy desordenada.

I really enjoyed Wood's performance in this movie, she was exceptional. Well acted by all. The story is not so far fetched as many people would believe, and it brings you back to the simple innocence of falling in love for the first time, as well as a battered man who has done some wrongs making himself a better man by finding that innocence once again. All in all this movie gave me a warm fuzzy feeling in my heart and I loved it.

Heart warming and will put a smile on your face!

35 minutes into the movie I thought...how old is this girl? Is this a middle aged movie maker's jailbait wet dream fantasy which includes a kink for a paramour with a diminished mental capacity? Some sort of Pygmalion mysogynist's trope of jaded/damaged man saves hapless girl trope who really is his savior? Ugh! To see the cast that co-signed on this garbage message to the viewer was disheartening. None of the supporting cast was hurting for roles at that time. They should have hard passed on this to send a message that better stories are worth telling. Do not enable skeevy movie makers who want a skin flick that entertains their warped sex fantasies with vulnerable victims of trauma.

This is a touching and funny love story. I loved Wood in Westworld and wanted to see her earlier work. I thought she did an amazing job with her character. I'd watch this again.

I was pretty appalled by the premise of this movie, but it sort of won me over by the end.

Absolutely sweet! Well written and well told. I want to watch it again.
