Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice smothers a potentially powerful story -- and some of America's most iconic superheroes -- in a grim whirlwind of effects-driven action.

Samantha Riedel Bitch Media Let's not make any bones about it - on any scale, Dawn of Justice is painful to watch. Feb 10, 2021 Full Review Matthew Rozsa Salon.com It is without question an important film today, and a quintessential product of the America we inhabit. Rated: 2.5/4 Aug 3, 2017 Full Review Aramide Tinubu Shadow and Act There is much to claw through here, so much so that the audience might easily find themselves exhausted from the overall aggression of the film. However, a lot of the story does work. The action is good, and the emotion feels real most of the time. Apr 12, 2017 Full Review Tania Hussain The Hudsucker With a well-painted influence from the Man of Steel’s darkened hues and dramatic imaging, Batman v Superman is a very naturalistic story with a somber script. Jul 10, 2024 Full Review Brendan Cassidy InSession Film The film was written by both Chris Terrio and David S. Goyer, and their jarring duality is very present. Rated: C- Jun 17, 2024 Full Review Don Shanahan Every Movie Has a Lesson This new franchise has chosen its mature path and they are showing the resolute fortitude to stick with it, haters be damned. Nicholas D bad bad movie way too long Rated 1 out of 5 stars 07/18/23 Full Review NORMAN J BATMAN VS SUPERMAN OUTSTANDING MOVIE WITH BEAUTIFUL VISUAL AND FANTASTIC ACTION SCENE. BATMAN FACING HIS INNER DEMONS AND SUPERMAN FACING HARD DECISION. BOTH WERE CHALLENGED BY THE CIRCUMSTANCES. BOTH QUESTIONS THEIR MORAL VIEWS. BVS ULTIMATE VERSION IS SUPERIOR THAN THE THEATER CUT. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/16/25 Full Review Meta M One of the reasons why I like BvS: ultimate edition is because in many ways it’s a pure comicbook film. There’s so much going on narratively, the film struggles to maintain a linear structure but under context of it being a comicbook fantasy it’s actually quite brilliant. It doesn’t work as a functional film but it certainly delivers as a piece of comicbook movie entertainment that is engaging, robust, poignant and thrilling. Also batfleck is just so awesome. That warehouse fight scene is the best Batman fight scene ever made. Synder made Batman into a terrifying presence, a final boss of sorts and I love it. It’s not everyone’s cup of tea but I cannot deny the sheer gravitas, weight and intensity that this film brings. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/16/25 Full Review Faiz D The ultimate edition was way, way better but it still had script issues. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 05/13/25 Full Review John H My favorite Batman/Superman movie, had some lame scene's but overall one of the greats, Ben Affleck turned out the best Batman yet, and Cavill rocked Superman ! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 05/12/25 Full Review khalid d I really enjoyed the grimmer, darker tone of the film and realism of the conflict between seeing superman as a dangerous alien vs a human. Lex luthor also was great. However it was too early for this confict.. Affleck-Batman should have had at least one standalone movie before a conflict.. even the end of a trilogy as a result everything happens too quickly and undermines the 'realism' of the character evolution. theres also the 'martha' moment - seriously - dumb dumb dumb. anyhow i liked it nonetheless.
