It's been nearly two years since Superman's (Henry Cavill) colossal battle with Zod (Michael Shannon) devastated the city of Metropolis. The loss of life and collateral damage left many feeling angry and helpless, including crime-fighting billionaire Bruce Wayne (Ben Affleck). There is much to claw through here, so much so that the audience might easily find themselves exhausted from the overall aggression of the film. However, a lot of the story does work. The action is good, and the emotion feels real most of the time.

It was just meh. I gave it a lower rating due to characters and plot lines being annoying. The portrayal of Superman isn’t really that good either as far as the plot. I liked Cavil’s acting but the movie basically is about making Superman a god-complex rather than just an a role model like Captain America. Also the whole Luther wanting Batman to fight Superman makes no sense when he’s creating something that can take him out. It seemed like a pointless fight to compete with Civil War. It seemed like the movie just wanted to go in a dark direction without really considering the characters they are using to make it go in that direction. Also an introduction to the new Batman’s world would have been nice. I get it’s a Frank Miller Batman but we don’t really know what drove Batman over the edge it’s talked about to some extent but we don’t really understand this version of Batman that made him go full vigilante mode. As far as a movie itself its entertaining enough for a watch but its more of just something to watch just for the fun of it then explore a new universe.

I'm usually a diehard fan of superhero movies, but BvS is a letdown. Lex Luthor's plan makes no sense at all, his casting is a joke, Superman is dour to no end, and the climax is nowhere near as intense as it should be. I could go on, but I'll leave the disappointments there. The only saving grace is Ben Affleck's performance.

Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice is the ultimate love letter to Batman fans who grew up dreaming of a Dark Knight that doesn't hold back. Ben Affleck kills it—not literally (okay maybe literally)—as the most savage, brooding, no-time-for-your-nonsense Batman we've ever seen. This isn’t billionaire playboy Bruce Wayne sipping cocktails—this is "I’ve seen some things" Bruce with a Batmobile that sounds like a tank and fists that hit like freight trains. The warehouse scene? Hall of Fame. The Bat suit? Straight out of Frank Miller’s The Dark Knight Returns. The voice modulator? Chef’s kiss. Yeah, the plot gets crowded and Lex is… well, he’s there. But who cares when you’ve got Batman dropping from the shadows like a demon, branding criminals, and suiting up in mech armor to throw hands with Superman? It’s dark, it’s bold, it’s Bat-God level epic. Long live Batfleck.
